I don't know that there is any stainless in this product. Some parts are chrome plated such as the handles and top rail attachments. The rail itself appears to be made of anodized aluminum.

It was installed as a kit when replacing the bath tub with a low profile American Standard shower pan and an American Standard 4 piece wall kit. The sliding door on the frame was an excellent choice. Love the clear glass and complete openness. Makes the small bathroom look larger that life. After putting up the wall kit, my husband measured the opening at 58 inches for the opening. The rod holders are 2 1/2 inches on each end which gives you a great adjustment factor on both ends of the rod for longer and shorter installs. He had 1 1/2 inch's on the outside glass clearance and 1 inch on the inside. based on that information we would have been ok with the 60 inch opening. The installation of the door was completed after my husband reviewed the online video. It took him about 3 hours to install including watching the video a few times while doing the install. I helped by lignin up the glass when he lifted it to put the fixed glass in the wall track and center holder. He said this is a very heave glass, guessing 70 + pounds. You may want to get help when putting in the glass, if your a do it your self kind of guy of gal. He used clear caulk on the frame with no leaks, which was great.

Just got these the other day, I haven't installed mine yet but have installed these exact same ones in two of my jobs already. They are basically as easy to install as other shower doors but they are ten times as heavy. The glass is a good 3/8' to 1/2' thick. You need two people to lift them. When mine was delivered I had my maintenance crew carry them upstairs now way I could do it myself. I really like the way these roll on the barn door track, smooth do not feel heavy at all when they are up. I like the fact the slider is wider than the fixed glass makes it easier to get in and out of the shower. As soon as I have spare time I will install these in my home and hopefully I'll be able to add pics. Although I do plan on applying d=some vinyl graphics to the door to add some pop to them. I did a Paris skyline on my last doors not sure what I will do with these my whole bathroom is under construction!

The top rail, as noted by another reviewer (Muctau) is only 56 inches long or at least that is the length of mine. The specification calls for the rail to be 56-3/8 inches but even that would not work WELL for an opening larger than 58-1/2 inches. I started installing this product on December 22nd when I ran into the issue of a short top rail. To date (3/31), I have not been contacted by American Standard with a resolution. My opening is CLEARLY less than 60 inches and even 59 inches as you will see in one of my photos. I created a temporary solution by using a block of PVC to close the gap between my tile walls and and the rail attachments. I used extra long stainless screws that mount into wood on the back side of drywall since there is an unfinished room on the other side of my terrace level bathroom. This temporary fix will NOT work for most people since it may not be strong enough to hold the top rail safely. There is another issue with the installation related to the instructions and video. The bottom U-channel may require trimming for the fixed glass to fully extend into the chrome guide. This will depend on how tightly the fixed glass fits into the upright U-channel, which will be related to how plumb your walls are. A would can easily be off 1/8 to 1/4 inch in 6 feet. Note that you can ONLY ADJUST THE FIXED GLASS engagement in the U-channel to the point where the top rail screw holes and fixed glass holes are still aligned since the attachment screws make the rail and glass combination more sturdy. Nowhere was there any indication that cutting might be necessary at the time I first installed this product last December. While I brought all of these issues to the attention of American Standard in a 600-word writeup nothing seems to have been done to address the issues. The video has not changed as of this date and the product page on The Home Depot web site still doesn't address the maximum width of the FINISHED opening where the top rail will engage a safe amount into the end attachments. It appears that American Standard assumes this glass will be used with its Passage panel kit but even that kits dimensional specs raised some questions for me when I reviewed them. If you are looking at this unit for new construction or a major remodel, please confirm with American Standard what the FINISHED opening should be for an ideal installation. It is not more than 58 inches in my mind but it is up to them to speak to this issue. I suspect that they were hoping to have a product with installation that required no metal cutting but that is difficult to do and still meet a variety of opening dimensions. Another issue that is glossed over is how to get the metal & clear plastic spacers between the fixed glass and the top rail. Your fingers won't fit in the space to hold them in place while you screw the attachment through the glass into the rail. I made a "tool" for this job by cutting a V-notch into a piece of 1/4" thick plywood and used the notch to support the spacer & plastic washer up into the gap. The manufacturer could have supplied a cardboard or plastic tool to do this job at the cost of a few cents. There is one additional issue you might encounter if your fixed glass is at the same end as your shower head. This will result in potential for leakage at the place where the two panels meet. The clear plastic seal doesn't necessarily give you a water tight fit. Since the toilet is at the same end of the shower as the showerhead in my installation there was not choice but to put the fixed glass at that end to allow someone to get into the shower without climbing over the toilet. It is unfortunate that this product has these issues since it really does make an attractive custom appearance unit. This is one of the very few times I have had no choice than to give a product a low rating. As for quality, I gave the product a poor quality grade based on the manufacturer's control/management of the manufacturing process and its support and engineering follow up to what must have been multiple complaints about dimensions as noted in another review.

It shipped to my home on a pallet and was heavy! Installation took two people at times to move heavy (beautiful) thick glass panels. Installation was a bit time consuming, but all hardware and components are very high quality and well made. There are also some very good installation videos online that were very helpful. My shower opening was just under 60" in width and the horizontal rail was a bit shorter than ideal (had to make some adjustments to make it work). Overall, this is a very high quality shower door and it looks great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning: horizontal rail too short The product will not work if the width of your bathroom door is wider than 58-3/4 inches. After drilling many holes on my wall panels and followed instructions to install I realized the horizontal rail is too short. I contacted American Standard and the representative said the actually length is 56-3/8 inches. But even so the product will not work if the width is wider than 59-1/4 inches. It was advertised for 60in. So A.S sent a new rail and the measurement was exactly the same one I purchased. I went to home depot and have them open 2 more boxes and the measurementthe were exactly the same length as others 56 inches only. The other issue is that it takes too long for the representative to return the email and respond to the issue. Leave me no choice but to uninstall it and pursue a different type of door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very high quality - Easy install Now that we are empty-nesters we decided to tear the kids bathtub out and replace with a shower that fits the same space. This door integrates with the rest of the "Passage" shower system to perfectly do just that. It would, of course, work with any other 5' wide space, but I got the whole "Passage" package. I have read on some reviews that people had issues with the length of the top bar. That was absolutely not a problem. My install was literally right over the top of what used to be a bathtub/shower combination, and this whole system seems designed to do just that easily. Have a helper when you install this - the glass is heavy, and there are a couple of screw/washer/cap between different pieces of glass combinations that need an extra set of hands. I have installed another manufacturer's "barn" door style shower door, and it came out fine; but it took a lot more work. The American Standard package and directions (on first glance sound like work salad, but are actually very descriptive and comprehensive) were easy to follow, and the door went up in a couple of hours. I was particularly impressed with the fine-adjustment of the rollers on top of the door - a cool off-center cam that can correct for a (somewhat) sketchy install. Makes the finished project look pro-done. Very happy with this, and the entire Passage system. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This brand name has bee around for a long time and was primarily a maker of sinks, toilets, and tubs. Now they are part of a larger group of companies and they make much more for you home or business. This sliding shower door is well made, and uses thick 3/8" glass. It is frame-less design and it looks great in place. It's not hard to assemble, but you will need to drill into your tile wall and floor, so make sure you have a tile bit, a hammer drill, and keep the bit cool with water as you go and you can get those hole done without problems. There are some good videos online on how to install, and if you have modest handyman skills, you can do this. The box is very, very heavy, and you will need a few people to get it into your home. It comes on plastic wrapped on a crate and you can leave it on that crate to move, or open it and take it alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and gorgeous! I will preface this review by saying watch the installation videos provided by American Standard for these glass shower doors; they will go a long way in aiding you with installing them. Definitely a two-person task. When you are finished, wow are you going to love the look! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
