      Answer This Question

A:  There is a possibility.depending on the size of the gravel.

      by|Aug 4, 2020

A:  I would think that normal size gravel would slip through tines due to their spacing

      by|Aug 5, 2020

      A:  Absolutely!

      by|Apr 1, 2021

A:  It worked for moving rock out of a flower bed for me. If the lock is really embedded, you may need to loosen it with a shovel first.

Q:Can I use it to aerate the grass?

          Answer This Question

A:  You can, but there are actual tools for aeration that would perform better.

          by|Apr 1, 2021

A:  To aerate means to puncture holes in the soil. It would be extremely labor intensive but you could do it. You could not rake existing sod but could raise the rake up and down causing punctures in the soilbed. Once again very time consuming

I'm sorry to say I purchased 2 of these rakes and both broke within the first 30 minutes. The design flaw is simple: the welds for the head are tacked on the back. Its made to be pulled toward you therefore when pulled with any type of force they snapped at the weld. Usually a big fan of Ames Products.

              works good
I’ve used this rake for multiple landscaping projects and it has yet to dissapoint me. It’s lightweight and easy to use. It is nice that you can use both sides with one tool. I use this alot for prepping mulch beds. There isn’t anything that I dislike about it. I’ve had this rake for 2 years now with no issues. It does meet my expectations. Please hit thumbs up if this was helpful.

The rake has a fiberglass handle which I prefer. With age it doesn't splinter, or if i leave it out by mistake, it doesn't weather! I use it for light raking after I hula hoe and it works great! Great price too! Thx!

Only got 1 or 2 uses out of it. Came apart while raking out some dirt and old leaves. Definitely do not recommend for any job more than very simple/easy loose dirt, leaves, etc.

                  Light Use ONLY
Works great for leveling loose dirt mulch but thats it. Dont use as a dethatcher or with moderate to heavy force. Used the rake for less than a year and snapped at the base.

"Dual purpose" and "So far, so good" I believe the double-sided rake design will be helpful in at least two ways. First, in addition to having what would be considered regular rake tines on one side, it has something similar to a wide but short hoe on the flip side so it has a dual purpose. Second, the combined height of the two faces may allow one to drag larger amounts (i.e. taller piles) with each pull. I also appreciate that the handle is longer than many I considered. Finally, while it is a little early to write a review on its durability--I have only had the rake for about a week and have only used it once--it seems to be well built and I expect it to last for a long time.

I love having the two tine options with this rake. Sometimes the deep tines are more than you need for the work you are doing and the shallow tines are better for moving dirt where you need to.

This is a first rate, well designed and lightweight rake that made our lawn top soil raking and feathering and driveway stone spreading and dressing easy tasks. We purchased this double play rake because the shorter teeth can be used for dressing the soil and rock beds without resorting to a larger flexible rake for feathering. I liked the rake's feel, it seems that the longer teeth's angle made moving the topsoil and rocks easy while the shorter teeth made finessing a cinch. My wife like the rake because it's light and the short teeth are, as she noted - "just the right height."
