A: It is not recommended for outdoor use--indoor only, especially in the humid and wet Florida climate.
A: Not too much. I have this rug in my dining room on a wood floor. Jute is a natural fiber and sheds fine jute pieces over time. This shedding is easily vacuumed (suction only vacuuming is recommended). I hardly notice the shedding honestly.
A: No, this rug does not have a backing. A rug pad can help it stay in place on a hard floor but it is not required.
A: No, a non-skid rug pad recommended with this area rug.
A: The specs on the HD website say that it does have a non-slip backing, however the ones I've purchased did not have any backing. I always add a good quality, fairly thick pad either way.
A: The Andes Jute Rug is a really wonderful natural fiber rug--it's been our #1 best-selling rug for a number of years. Its transitional style complements many types of decor and offers a very organic, warm touch to your practically any space. It is, however, not soft like a shag rug or like a plush broadloom carpet. The weave is a bit chunky by design which might not be optimal for step aerobics (do people still do that?) but is very comfortable and easy to walk on and sit on and live with in general.
