On the back side of the packing Ad there is this "Warning: THIS HOSE IS NOT INTENDED FOR DRINKING WATER USE. FOR POTABLE WATER PURCHASE AN APEX DRINKING SAFE HOSE." It also has the warning that this product contains chemicals, including Lead, known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects. Wash hands after handling. That being said, I use this hose as an outdoor garden hose and I LOVE it. Must remember to use more care in its use.

Are the connectors brass or brass colored aluminum?

They are very solid. We coil them up while the water is still on so it makes it easier. The fittings do not leak and the brass is thick. I've purchased hoses before that the metal (not brass) was thin, cross threaded easily, and leaked. These are thick brass and go right on. The hose will kink if you dont twist them a bit while coiling or uncoiling, but not as bad as other hoses I've used. All in all very well made. I made 2 hose reels on posts to hold these hoses for my wife to use when watering her flower beds. I purchased white fence posts and painted them with bronze metalic rustoleum. I "washed" the bronze with flat black paint to make it look antique. The hose reels were painted that way when we purchased them. I wanted the red rubber hoses for that antique look.

Critical weak point
I own 6 of these hoses covering both the 25’ and 50’ versions. I live in Southern CA and do a lot of hand watering of fruit trees. This is a very heavy hose regardless of which length. It holds up to sun and hard usage except in one key joint between the female brass end and the metal tube attached to it to secure the rubber hose end inside. In half my Apex hoses, significant leaks developed. One has now started to gush and that was in my newest, least used one. Water is extremely expensive here so I’m really unhappy about buying so much water-wasting garbage. Does any hose company make a decent product anymore?! My prior hoses lasted for years in the intense sun. I didnt coil them back up due to consistent usage. This new generation of hoses have all been garbage. The Apex hoses started out so well that I replaced all my other failed hose purchases with them yet here I am again cutting hose ends and using ring clamps to attach new brass ends.
