Product Overview

Apollo Expansion PEX is cross-linked polyethylene tubing designed for use within potable water piping systems. Produced using a Peroxide method, Apollo Expansion PEX is PEX-A pipe. Having been in use for over 50 years PEX-A pipe has the highest rate of cross-linking of any PEX pipe. Apollo Expansion PEX is the most flexible PEX pipe available. Apollo Expansion PEX Pipe provides superior durability, corrosion resistance and flexibility for the most demanding environments. Apollo Expansion PEX is available in red, white and blue for the simple identification of cold water, hot water and main water lines. The Apollo Expansion PEX system is a comprehensive cold expansion piping system comprised of brass fittings, poly alloy fittings, manifolds, valves, fasteners, tools and tubing designed for implementation in water delivery systems, simple or complex.
  • Pipe is blue in color for easy identification of cold water distribution lines within a piping system
  • Apollo expansion PEX pipe is compatible with both expansion and crimp, clamp or sleeve methods of joining
  • Compatible with Tectite by Apollo push-to-connect fittings
  • Meets or exceeds the following standards: ASTM F876, F877, F1807, F1960, F2023, F2080 and F2159
  • Heat-reparable if kinked during installation thus further eliminating additional repair connections
  • Shape memory inherent in PEX-a tubing results in the shrinking of expanded pipe to normal size, creating strong, durable and reliable ASTM F1960 fitting connections
  • Maximum cross-linking increases flexibility and resistance to cracking
  • Available in a variety of lengths including 100 ft. and 300 ft. coils
  • cNSFus-pw
  • CSA B137.7
  • Compatible with Uponor and Wirsbo PEX piping systems

Freeze Damage
I plumbed my lake house with Appolo Pex-A appx three yesrs ago. In preparation for the 2021 big freeze, i drained all lines and the water heater. I was unable to drain the 3/4” line where it entered the utility room and took a bend. After the 9 degree sustained freeze, the line bubbled and formed a small pin hole. It was easily replaced, but be advised, it will rupture.

This is the pex to use for expansion style fittings, a superior method of pex installation that results in greater flow than crimp style that reduce flow at each fitting. This is particularly important in hot water recirculation systems or in larger households where every bit counts!

It worked well, it was easy to put pipe and fittings together but the tool that expands the pipe to fit over a fitting is a bit of work.

I bought this tubing for use in in-floor heating. Its flexibility and ability to make some pretty tight turns made it a good choice for this project. The project is still in construction, so the tubing has not yet been put to its intended use.

        Called ahead to check stock.
For some reason home depot in my area of ny state isn't carrying the A type pex anymore, but I managed to find it online in the dover nj store. So I called ahead to check stock and the person in plumbing said he had 3 of each color in half inch, exactly what it said online. After riding an hour and a half to get it, turns out they didn't actually have any blue at all, so I'm stuck with using white for the cold lines. It's really not a big deal for me one way or the other, but my paying, very fussy customer will definitely have an issue with it. And PS. When I checked out the cashier scanned the white for both because the red didn't have the retail code on the package. And That's probably what caused the whole stock issue. And yes, it's a good product, I've used it many times.
