Q:How do you get the pipe to bend into the support? Does the pipe have to be warmed (heated)?

      Answer This Question

A:  PEX is pretty flexible but I found that with the stiffer 3/4" pipe, it helped to leave the section on the dashboard of my car in the sun for 15 minutes to let it warm up. I wouldn't take a heat gun to it or anything.

      by|May 30, 2020

A:  Feeding the pipe through the bend support is your best bet. The pipe does not necessarily need to be heated. However, heating the pipe will make it easier to work with.

Radius is too tight even for Pex A
Pex-a supports the tightest radius and this bend radius typically causes it to collapse a bit or sometimes even get pinched. I didn't try pex-b, but it has a wider radius, so it would be even more problematic. Heating pex-a helps but doesn't eliminate the problem.

The metal 90 degree bend for Pex A is the way to go. Much more stable than the plastic especially when it comes to 3/4" pex.

            Every one is overbent
Bought 1/2 a dozen and they all have too short of a bend radius (about 6 inches instead of PEX 3/4” minimum of 7). On top of that they’re over bent by probably 5-10° being 80-85° bends which are way too tight. This probably isn’t a single batch problem, because the 1/2” ones I purchased are just as bad, it’s a manufacturer problem. Get a different brand. The Sharkbite ones I purchased at first were great. Store just ran out.

The plastic ones are junk. Get these.
3/4 PEXB takes some muscle to bend. This will make things a bit easier. I returned the plastic ones that I initially bought and went with these. I do wish these had the screw mounting holes though.

After reading other reviews, I decided to get help making the bend. Two of us had no difficulty making the 90 degree bend with this fitting. On person's hands squeezed the inside of the curve and the other the outside. Just on person could do it without much difficulty, but I think there would be a bit more risk of developing a crimp. The metal support held the pex very well.
