When do the spark plugs need to be replaced?

Answers

Thank you for your question. Kawasaki's engine owners manual suggests cleaning or replacing the spark plugs and resetting the gap every 100 hours. The spark plug should be replaced when necessary. To view the engine manufacturer's manual and process for this, please see the following link https://www.kawasakienginesusa.com/sites/default/files/manuals/99920-2289-01_fr651v-691v-730v_en_es_0.pdf

If at all possible find 100% gas NO ethanol. Ethanol if hydrophilic and absorbs water from the air. Once contaminated by enough water it separates from the gas and gums up the carb. Either 100% gas or every time it might sit longer than a month or so it needs to be ran empty. You can turn the fuel shutoff off and then let the engine die by running out of gas. At this point you will need to have the carb cleaned, filter replaced, and system flushed. Hope this helps.

Popping from left drive axle when moving?? It almost feels as though teeth are missing from a drive hear inside of unit?

The drives are hydraulic and driven by a main belt for both drives. On top of the drives are cooling fans. Check the fan on top of the drive to see if it is hitting anything. Otherwise, when the drives start going bad, they make a very odd sound whining sound, more than a grinding sound.

I need what type of oil for the blade grind box, or motor box?

Thank you for the question. The only oil that needs to be added to this unit is the engine oil. For engine oil recommendations please refer to the engine owners manual here https://www.kawasakienginesusa.com/sites/default/files/manuals/99920-2289-01_fr651v-691v-730v_en_es_0.pdf. Thank you.

First of all, let me say it looks good. But it does not cut good at all. Ariens has the worse customer service of all mower manufactures I have ever dealt with. 1. The mower does not cut well, it does not give a good quality cut. 2. It skips blades (sections) of grass. From the center to the right side by the chute, it cuts perfect but from the center of the deck to the left is where it does not perform well. 3. Purchased this mower brand new from home depot in March, been in the shop for this issue multiple times. 4. The repair shop checked everything and basically said the deck design is horrible. But I assumed that they were biased because they mostly sell Toro. So when they reached out to Ariens, Ariens said that the mower isn't designed to cut grass over 2" tall. So why buy a zero turn if it can't cut better than a push mower. The shop said they used it and they see what the customer is talking about and something is definitely wrong with the mower. 5. Ariens sent them a kit that installs a new pulley and a new belt to make the center blade spin on a equal bases to the other 2 blades. Still, that didn't help. 6. Everytime I try to call Ariens, they don't have a customer line like other brands, you have to hit the prompt that says if you are a dealer press 1. But, when I do get someone, they always say that I'm pushing the mower past its limits. 7. There are several people on youtube that complain about having to double cut their yard and complain about this issue and more. I have had this mower for 5 1/2 months and never got a good cut out of it like my John Deere Z425 and its 11 years old. Ariens knows this zero turn is defective, thats why they created a kit to fix it. but that kit does not fix it. If you want a decent zero turn for $3,000 please try the toro or John Deere mowers. Not satisfied at all with mower and even less satisfied with the manufacturer.

Response from AriensOct 4, 2019
Hi Anthony, we're very sorry you're experiencing this issue with your Ariens zero-turn mower. You made the right move by taking your unit to a dealer, but there are some more things you can try to avoid stragglers:

1. Level and pitch the mower deck according to the instructions in your manual, or at the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5OEkI8v8HM
2. Clean under the deck. Grass, dirt and debris that's caked onto a deck shell disrupts the deck's aerodynamics and affects your cut quality.
3. Sharpen your blades. Your dealer probably checked to ensure your high-lift mower blades are already sharp, but it doesn't hurt to double check.
4. Check the condition of your PTO belt. If your belt is worn, it could be slipping across the spindle pulleys.
5. Reduce your cutting height. It's best practice to cut only one-third of your grass length at one time. If you wish to do more, you may need to double cut.

If you continue to experience this issue, please reach back out to your Ariens dealer. Remember, if your unit is still within our 3-year warranty period, correcting manufacturing defects is covered. Ariens

I've researched mowers for several years that I wanted to replace my old one with whenever it died. In doing so I spoke to many professionals and the majority said they loved the Kawasaki motors, and thick metal on the decks and normally it was made in USA metals that out performed other material which Ariens met these qualifications. A few years research on Ariens at Home Depot many days for over a year, looking, pricing, going to website for Home Depots deal of the day waiting and hoping. Well 3 weeks before father's day, 2 years after wishing I had this mower, my old mower died it's final death. Wife surprised me (after I told her many a days we couldn't afford it, let's put money to something else) with this beauty on father's day. I have never had a mower this nice in my life. She said the employee at the store tried to get her to purchase another mower and she had to insist on this one many times before she started to get the store manager then he agreed to sell this one to her. Anyway I'm thankful for my research and thankful for Ariens for putting together a quality mower at an extremely reasonable price. From the ease of use to the quality of the material you can not go wrong with this mower for a weekend warrior cutting 4 to 5 acres of grass this is the must have mower. Thank you Ariens!

I just got this mower this spring and I must say, it cuts grass a lot faster than by using scissors! Only thing I wish it had was autopilot. After all vacuums clean the floors on their own, why not have a lawn mower cut the grass for you?

Wow, this Zero Turn mower is the best buy for the money out there. Built like a tank, and the Kawasaki motor is fast. I got the white glove delivery, which they came to my house and dropped it off asembelled and gased up. Started up fine. Rides great and is very fast. Get it, you won't be Sorry. It's only money. And not a lot, for what you get. The motor cost you more than a 1000.00 on its own. Then the trany, and fabracated deck. Nice seat. 3 blades. Did I say best Zero Turn for the money, hands down.

I have owned this mower since April 2018. So far I have been using it once every other week. I'm impressed about the quality this machine has been built. I just past the 20 hours on the clock(great feature) and my only concern is when the grass is very tall because I had to mow twice. Other than that it is been great! I really recommend this ztm because the price an quality. In the future I'll give a try to a Gravely (Ariens parent brand). One more good thing is getting parts, I needed the oil drain plug and it was very easy to order from the ariens website, where you can find diagrams and details for every part.

On going on my second cutting season with this mower and I couldn't be happier. The Kawasaki engine, fabricated deck and overall heavy duty construction makes this residential mower just one step below a commercial mower. I did a lot of research before I bought this mower and the one negative thing I kept hearing that had me a little worried was the low power of the hydrostatic drives, however, my research revealed that most mowers in this class use the same drives, so I went ahead and bought it and haven't had any issues related to low power. I have to cut a drainage ditch in front of my house (see photo) and I'm able to go in an out of it easily. It does have a little tow hole. It is not recommended that you pull anything too heavy with it but it handles our small yard wagon with no problem.
