This staircase was easy enough to assemble until we got to the railing . . . oy! After giving up, I googled videos and discovered that the secret--not mentioned anywhere in the instructions (indeed, the instructions are all pictures, with a feather to mean "lightly tighten" and some strange object to mean "really tighten")--anyway, the secret to bending that utterly inflexible railing is boiling water. Heat the tea kettle, then pour boiling water through the railing AFTER you've covered the opposite end in tape. Those few minutes of exposure to the boiling water will turn that railing into butter. :-). After that, the rest of the assembly is relatively trouble free, except for a few pieces that won't fit until you "loosen" the rubber railing with a blowtorch. I hired a handyman to help me install it, and we finished in two days, which included some carpentry work on the landing. It's a fine staircase, but it certainly would help to have words in the instruction manual.

Looks awesome, but its almost so narrow its unusable.
Install was not to difficult, my brother installed it in less than 8 hrs having never done one before I didn't think that was bad. There is some "custom" work that has to be done. You can find the install videos on youtube so check those out before you buy to see if you can do it or not. Over all we are happy with how it looks, but it is very narrow. A larger person would have a hard time with these stairs. Thankfully in our case they are not the main stairs and wont be used much.

    Nice but hard to install
The product is nice but it was really hard to install. The directions are unclear and the chart for the number of spacers is incorrect. The handrail was next to impossible to install and required a blowtorch to heat it up. And after heating it was still hard to install. Definitely not a one person job. All in all it took me about a day and a half but it looks great and is extremely functional.
