Q:Manufacture says the Karina "footprint" on a straight configuration is 61" with a ceiling to floor height of 112".
For some reason at 110" my Karina is only 48" in a straight line.
Why is that ??? Did they ship me the wrong product ??

These were perfect for the loft apartment being built for me. They were pretty easy to install and it took about a day for the entire project from start to finish. They are very custimizable which suprised me. The railing is a bit flimsy which is the only negative I have. They look amazing installed. They are EXACTLY what I was looking for and I am so happy with my purchase.

The stair kit was well packed and protected during its shipment with no damage to the various parts. All elements of the stairs were easily assembled and look great after installation. The only difficulty was in tightening the bolts that hold the individual metal step assemblies together. They require a significant amount of torque to insure they are rigidly connected together without chance of them slipping at some point in the future.

What an amazing product, when I ordered it I did not realize that it is from Italy, the quality speaks for itself.
As for installation, it is definitely a two person job, I found it a challenge getting all the steps lined up and at the right height. Definitely recommend.

read of you are installing curved stairs
If you have a turn in your stairs, don’t follow the instructions. I would recommend you get some small clamps to afix the railing plastic support to the stairs so that you can check how it will come together. Once you get to a straight up stair line, it gets easier. But use clamps and figure out your turning railing before you drill.

What a beautiful staircase! Looks incredible in our new house; a real design feature. We do now realize why the holes on the stair treads should be drilled before putting the staircase together! We made it work! Note to self…pay strict attention to the instructions!

Nice But Hard Stairway Kit
Watch the video before you start working on this, is on Arke web sight. The instructions are awfull and ended up doing things twice. I could of done it in 1/2 the time if they would just say watch the video. In the end it is a solid stairway.

The ship staircase was not a one day project. Realistically...
The ship staircase was not a one day project. Realistically it took 3 men to align, hold, and fasten. The staircase weighs 260 pounds when put together. The staircase flexes when someone goes and down it so, therefore, the anchoring to the floor is most crucial for stabilizing it to not ever move. We would recommend having a contractor oversee the project for proper installation. Very elegant when completed...
