Q:These tiles easily scruff and scratch and are leaving ugly marks during installation. Just simple adjustment using fingers is causing these marks. When I try to wipe the marks with a soft cloth even that leaves a mark. Pls help. Thx.

it is easy to get decent results as an amateur the package had all the needed parts. I would recommend a small can of touch up paint as it seems inevitable to get a few nicks that show up on the black. It made for a comfortable,appealing space.
2 basement offices both came out well.

UPDATE ON (RE)PAINTING TILES BLACK
My previous review suggested cans of spray paint to repaint the black or paint the white black. On a large scale spray cans turned out to be a bad idea, they spray uneven, are absorbed uneven and some brands flat just aren’t very flat. Without a professional sprayer, I ended up rolling with a 3/8” roller. Home Depot sells Glidden Premium factory premixed flat black. It is actually much blacker than the tiles factory paint, and the Glidden base is very flat on their dark colors, I believe it’s their base 3, and the price at Home Depot is a bargain! The tiles will soak up much more paint than you would guess so buy twice as much. Also needs at least two coats, but looks so much better than factory. See before & after pics attached. The before shows tile dust covering the grid just from dropping them in place.

YOU can make them great
As others have written, the black paint job is pathetic. It will be contaminated by dust from the ends and back by the time you have them installed. If you try to clean them with a moist cloth they will only streak. Not to mention the paint job isn’t that great as far as adhesion or even black color. Now the great news: buy many cans of Flat Black spray paint. Spray each tile completely and let dry 24 hours because it will be absorbed. Handle wearing plastic gloves when installing. You will have a beautiful uniform ceiling for your home or theater which is slightly blacker than the Armstrong black with absolutely no gloss. Now here’s the kicker.... since you are going to be painting the tiles anyway, you don’t have to stick with these. There are many other more decorative tiles that happen to be white. Pick out the one you like and paint it. Armstrong says, by the way, painting an acoustical tile has minimal effect on the sound properties. I wish I had known this because there are other more attractive tiles I would have liked for my theater however are white and I did not know I was going to have to remove and repaint the black ones after installation anyhow. In the photo the clean left tile is freshly painted andthe surface is tougher than factory. The dirty right tile shows the fainter black and how the tile looks after getting dust from sides and rear on the factory paint. The dust will mess upyour new paint job too, so be careful.

Cheap paintjob, work required after purchase
Currently installing these tiles in an older grid to update a space. Unfortunately was greeted with little white flecks on a lot of the tiles. Seems these are just the white tiles with a pathetic paint job on most of them. I can understand if a corner gets damaged in shipping and some white shows there, but these tiles shouldn't be shipped out with as many white spots as I'm seeing unless you're going to include a touch up kit in the box. Hopefully I can get away with a sharpie for touchups

Dust and loose dirt may easily be removed by light brushing or with a vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaner attachments such as those designed for cleaning upholstery or walls do the best job. Be certain to clean in one direction only. This will prevent rubbing dust into the surface of the ceiling.
After loose dust has been removed, pencil marks, smudges, or clinging dirt may easily be erased with an ordinary art gum eraser. However, a good grade wall cleaner may be preferred. Be certain to use fresh cleaner.
Armstrong mineral fiber ceilings may be cleaned with a moist cloth or a sponge dampened in water containing mild soap. The sponge should contain as little water as possible. After washing, the soapy film should be wiped off with a cloth or sponge slightly dampened in clean water.

Every tile had the black paint missing in one or more spots. If these were in a more prominent location in our home, I would have returned them all for a refund.
