SO FAR SO GOOD!

Works much better than older unit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had an old 22 year old downdraft ventilation from another company that did a semi-acceptable job of venting. This new unit from Bosch is a lot better than the older one. It now mostly clears the cooking area when smoke/fumes are coming up from the cooking. Not all of it but at least 85% to 95% of it which is quite acceptable.

Expensive mistake
Go to bank … take 3500$, then burn them or give it to charity or homeless people
All above wil work better then the hood experience

My situation: I had a Bosch downdraft that never worked...
My situation: I had a Bosch downdraft that never worked since we moved into the house. After several years, I decided to replace it (although we never really felt we needed it). I was shocked how expensive this is for what you get. Everyone knows downdrafts are awful in terms of actually removing air compared to range hoods. You should really not use them. But some of us don't have much of a choice. Then, if you buy this, you get half of what you actually need. It doesn't come with a blower motor, which I understood (I already have one). But it also doesn't come with the attachment to direct the air into the duct. That's another $80 and another 2 months wait. Really??? Also, this unit is a lot larger than the previous model, which meant that it actually didn't fit in the space I had. That is, the unit is a lot deeper than the previous one.
All in all, downdrafts are a bad choice for ventilation. Bosch downdrafts are overpriced (as are others) and unreliable (mine had been fixed several times and died anyway). I ended up returning it (Thank you Home Depot) and will need to look at other options.

Downdraft hood exhaust
The downdraft blower works as expected and we are satisfied with the performance so far. I hope the filters capture the grease better than our old Dacor one which allowed grease to accumulate in the electrical box. It matches the Bosch induction stove top that we purchased earlier.
