No it doesn’t
The wire compost bin does not have a door per say. It consists of four wire squares that attach together, you can detach one of the squares to open an close.
Is it open around the sides? If so, doesn't the dirt/compost fall out or wash out when it rains?
I am a volunteer at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and I work at the Compost Outpost there where we generate all of the compost for the Garden's Backyard Vegetable Garden. We have 25 compost bins working all the time. They are similar to this product, but a little bigger. When you layer your green and brown materials, and water them down heavily while assembling the pile, they start breaking down quickly and do not spill out through the mesh.

I have had this item for over a year and I can't remember but It does work fine.
What is the gauge of the wire?
I'm not sure. I think it's 14 gage. It's heavy enough you cannot bend it very easiy. I've had mine(2) for a year now without any issues.
