I'm using min on "1/2" nominal" CPVC pipe which is 5/8" OD (yes I went back and actually measured this just to answer your question) and it worked like a charm.

Yes, that’s what I did. The old copper ring and nut worked fine. I believe someone designed it to be that way.

Is the internal ball metal or plastic?

These are plastic, and not even a ball, but a plastic tube with a hole. They switched this design years ago. I don't trust it. I buy actual ball valves at Ace hardware now. Much better quality.

Can I use this on the faucet part of my kitchen sink?

Asked by DaveDishwasher February 8, 2017

this will not replace the sink faucet. it would be used on the supply line to the sink. I had a location that would have been difficult to solder. I was replacing a multi turn stop valve that was leaking through the valve stem. I cut the pipe and installed this.

can I use braided lines with this valve

Asked by Jeff September 2, 2016

Answers

Yes. The braided lines have a similar size nut and a rubber gasket in the end of the braided line, so you just remove the chrome nut and the brass compression ring and screw on the braided line.

Are these valves compatible with CPVC piping also?

i doubt it. the outside dimension of cpvc will be larger than the copper tubing.

Compression fitting sealing

I didn't use teflon tape and it worked fine. The threads are brass to brass and as long as you are careful not to cross thread it will work. As far as how tight, I don't know how many ft/lbs.

It was very easy to install as I was replacing an older valve. Nice and easy to turn on or off with only a quarter turn of the valve. The valve I replaced needed a couple of full turns to turn the water on or off, and it was leaking a little bit. This valve is under my kitchen sink and controls the water for the dishwasher.

Great replacement part over the conventional valve with the larger handle. The conventional value generally uses a rubber stop inside which over time gets hard and will not shut the water off. This valve uses a ball valve inside and I have never had a problem with one. I recommend this valve. Dave

The valve failed after only about 7 years. The connection between the knob and the valve broke internally, leaving no way to turn the water off. Had to replace the valve.

Great product
I had to replace the shut off valve in our kitchen sink when I replaced out faucet. We have well water and is very hard. I am assuming that with the hard water and rust, the valve finally gave in. When replacing the faucet, I was able to shut the valves, but when turning them back on, it started to leak. No amount of tightening helped. So I decided it was time for these valves to be replaced. I replaced both hot and cold valves, even though only the hot was leaking. It went in well - I had to use the existing nut on the old valve and it fit nicely. No leaks and it looks nice. And it's only a quarter turn valve, not like the old valve where it was like a screw valve, requiring several turns. I guess because of our water, it would be a good maintenance to turn these valves on and off at least once a year.

The valve's compact size and quick on/off capability were appreciated.
Having a ball valve mechanism rather than the typical threaded multiturn type gate or washer valve makes this shut-off valve most desirable; only 1/4 turn from full on to off.
