Q:Can these be used with 2x4 Ceilume Stratford feather-light panels? Or will the tiles sag?
by|Dec 27, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation was created to be used with Ceilume's ceiling tiles. Soniguard insulation is made from thermally bonded polyester fibers that are easily supported by the Stratford 2x4 ceiling tiles with no sagging. And Soniguard won't shed fibers like some other insulations so it won't make you itch during installation or contribute to poor air quality in your space.

Q:For a restaurant what is a drop ceiling?
    by|Aug 3, 2022

    Answer This Question

A:  Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation is intended to be placed on top of ceiling tiles that are installed in a suspended ceiling grid. They add extra acoustic and thermal insulation to the existing ceiling tiles. Because they are not rigid, they can't be installed for use as a ceiling tile by themselves. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 if you have any other questions.

    by|Aug 4, 2022

A:  For a restaurant a drop ceiling is any type of metal grid system with panels you insert. The soniguard panels would be placed above for soundproofing floor above. Wouldn’t recommend soniguard as panels for the actual grid.

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you can glue the panels.

        by|Jul 7, 2022

A:  Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation is a non-woven polysesther material that is not suitable for glue up installation and can't be used as a stand-alone tile. It's made to sit on top of a lay-in ceiling tile to increase the acoustic and thermal insulation.

          by|Jul 6, 2022

A:  Yes it can be glued to ceiling using a high tack caulk that comes in a tube. The adhesive will instantly stick. About 8 to 9 dollars…Mike the contractor

Q:Would this work for a surface mount grid system in conjunction with your Ceilume Stratford tiles? Or are they too thick?

              Answer This Question

A:  They will be too thick. You will need at least 2 inches to squeeze them in. Hope this helps.

              by|Jan 26, 2022

A:  Hi Derek, the tiles will work.

                by|Jan 25, 2022

A:  Assuming your grid system has at least an inch clearance, these are easy to install.

                  by|Dec 14, 2022

A:  Ceilume does not recommend using Soniguard with a surface mount grid system. Typically the surface mounted grid doesn't provide the required clearance (typically about 2") for the Ceilume ceiling tile and Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation to fit.

We're sorry to hear that the Soniguard insulation did not meet your expectations. The Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation has been laboratory tested in accordance with ASTM C423. Those test results show that when used with Ceilume's Feather-Light ceiling tiles, they provide an NRC of .50. Please keep in mind that in room sound is greatly impacted by the other surfaces in the space; flooring, walls, furniture, etc. We do appreciate you giving Ceilume a try.

Thanks for your review of Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation. Noise reduction within a room is a factor of many different components: ceiling material/insulation, flooring material, wall type, and furniture all contribute to the sound within a room. While we don't know the exact composition of your room, we do know that our NRC figures come from before and after sound testing within a controlled environment. Feel free to give Ceilume a call at 888-533-1995 to discuss your specific installation.

                            Beautiful but flimsy
I installed this a couple months ago in my new bathroom and love the look. However it is very flimsy. After putting the insulation on top of it I noticed bulges in the tile. Just hoping it hold and tiles don't fall out

                            Very Nice
Im happy with the soniguard tikes but 1 thing... The square needs to be a little smaller so it can fit correctly into the vinyl tile. Its a little big so you either have to cut every square (and they are hard to cut) or just lay them on top, overlapping each other - so we chose the latter.
