Single Zone Water Timer with Digital Display

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this little gem, and we love it. Hooked it up and ran through the manual, programing was easy, and it turned on and off the water just like it was set for. Perfect addition to our garden trickle system. We definitely recommend this unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a timer to water my lawn at specific times of non-rainy days. I don't have a big yard, so I needed something simple. Chapin 41002 Single Zone Water Time with Digital Display was my answer. When I received it, the instructions were very simple to read and understand. I had to supply my own AA batteries which was no big deal. Now the battery compartment was a bit tough to disengage, but one has to understand that it needs to be sealed tight from water. After inserting the batteries, I simply turned the dial to "Set Clock". The clock is military time so if you are not familiar with that, 1:00pm is 13:00 or take the hour minus 12 (13:00 - 12:00 = 1:00pm) After setting the clock, I set the "Start Time" to begin watering my lawn and then set the minutes in the "How Long" section. I set it to "RUN" and BAM, it worked accordingly. There are other great features, such as "Manual" watering and also it will not run if it rains. Pretty cool. I'm an very happy with this product and am looking forward to watering my lawn this year without the hassle of setting up the hose, etc.

I only have one issue with this unit but it's a big one, IMHO. Once you set the timer, it shows the time of day and the time of day when watering will start. So, it may indicate watering will start at 20:00 but it doesn't indicate if that's today, tomorrow or the next day. The unit would be better if it indicated either the day as well or it would suffice if it indicated how many hours until startup.

The timer itself is excellent but as with every timer I have tried, it leaks at water to hose bib connection.

Works well. Initially thought process to switch to manual would be aggravating but it really was no problem at all.

The timer is easy to read, set, and use.

Worked so well we bought 2 more for kids. It's easy to set up. Also, it's water resistant. While on vacation our son-in-law left the sprinkler on for his new shrubs and the sprinkler also hit the faucet where the timer was attached. The timer continues to work. It just need AA batteries.
