About This Product

PVC Sch. 40 Pipe is dual marked and can be used in DWV and pressure applications. Gradual sloping fittings are used for DWV applications. Sharply angled pressure fittings must be used for pressure. PVC Sch. 40 is highly durable, with high tensile and impact strength. It is easy to install and has better sound deadening qualities than PVC Sch. 40 Foam Core and ABS Foam Core. Installation requires the use of primer and solvent cement.

Does the pipe have flared end for coupling or does it require separate coupling fitting to connect?
      ByOct 12, 2025
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

PVC 07100 0600, Store SKU # 312940, is plain end pipe so it will require separate coupling fittings to connect with other pipes. PVC 04012B 0600, Store SKU # 390988, is a 1 ¼ in x 10 ft belled end pipe that does not require a separate coupling to connect with other pipes. For additional information and/or a recommendation please contact our Technical Services Department at 800-438-6091.

Would this 3/4 in 40 schedule pipe warp or bend or sag if heated under hot sun
        BySep 18, 2025
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

A two-year study was undertaken to quantify the effects of UV radiation on the properties of PVC pipe. The study found that exposure to UV radiation results in a change in the pipe’s surface color and a reduction in impact strength. Other properties such as tensile strength (pressure rating) and modulus of elasticity (pipe stiffness) are not adversely affected. Radiant effects of sunlight can also increase pipe surface temperatures, possibly causing a piping system to exceed maximum working temperature or de-rated pressure carrying capability. For additional information, please contact our Technical Services Department at 800-438-6091.

If you bury it can you run over it with a truck without it cracking
            BySep 2, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Plastics do not have a crush rating or a known weight at which they will fail. Plastic pipes should always be buried in accordance with ASTM D2321 and all local code requirements to ensure proper trenching, correct depth, compaction, and appropriate backfill. For additional information and/or recommendation, please contact our Technical Services Department at 800-438-6091.

              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Thank you for the question. Tolerances are set by ASTM D 1785. For a nominal ¾” PVC Schedule 40 pipe with an O/D of 1.050” the Average Tolerance is +/- 0.004. For additional information, please contact our Technical Services Department at 800-438-6091.

This pipe is good quality. I used as an archway with Christmas lights for a pathway during Christmas.

I realize it is not the products intended purpose but I used it to make a small "knee hockey" goal for my toddler. The price was right and the product worked well. Held up well despite drilling a lot of holes through it. No complaints here.

This review is about the versatility of the 2" PVC Pipe. I used it to build a platform on my Rigid vacuum. It worked great (see pic). I used a heat gun to get the pipe to match up properly to the vac. This setup allows me to catch sawdust in a 5-gallon bucket for easy cleaning. Nothing ends up in the vacuum, and the filter never gets clogged.

I carried this 10 foot piece of pipe to the register and checked out without using a cart. I used if to construct a French drain for the water flowing from my in-ground pool deck so that water did not pool around my slab during heavy driving rain that occurs during hurricanes. I drilled a two series of holes 45 degrees apart along about half the length of the pipe before I buried it over a bed of stones with the holes facing down. The pipe runs away from the house and is not visible. Only the collector for the French drain is visible. I also sealed the stucco to concrete slab interface.
