Answer This Question

A:  I believe it is. If not you can always return it for a refund or a different one.

by|Nov 19, 2022

A:  Yes, this tape is steel and will not fold when fished through conduit.

A:  Worked fine for me. Just make sure you lubricate the tip to reduce friction.

Q:Will it fish through insulation in an exterior wall?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, this should work to feed through insulation in walls.

        by|Jun 13, 2022

A:  If you are just pushing it through horizontally it will go through but it would be difficult vertically and especially over any sort of distance. It would take some effort and some luck.

          by|Jun 18, 2022

A:  It will, but i assure you, it can be frustrating, and I am also assuming that there are no crossmemebers in the way, barring that, you should be fine, I have done it with this a couple times

            by|Jun 17, 2022

A:  Yes for the distance of the wire pull you are using.. Don’t try to pull great distances.

                Worked perfectly
I was upgrading storeroom lights in my finished basement and needed to pull 6’ of wire through a joist bay of the upstairs. I bought a rigid “memory” type fish tape, that only wanted to curl up inside the cavity-better for conduit. I was going to try fiberglass rods until I read about this. It took 10 minutes to feed this through a knockout hole to the new opening, attach the wire and pull into the old box. So happy I found all of the other five star reviews!

                  Great!
I got this to put TV wires down through a hole in the wall so they were not just loosely hanging down and it worked perfectly!

I own several fishing tapes, mostly 50 or 100 feet and they’re great for pulling wire through conduit but when you're just wanting to pull wire from the second floor to the basement or first floor to the basement they’re a lot of tape to seal with. This one's great because it’s only 15-foot-long and rigid so you can get it up or down through the walls. The hook on the end is nice. Just put one end of the wire through it then wrap a piece of tape around it to secure it while you’re pulling it. On the negative side it does require a lot of hand turning of the knob to wined it back in and for me it took 32 turns to bring the 15-feet of tape back in. There is some resistance to it is you're turning it. It would be nice if they could somehow incorporate a little hand crank that folds back in to make it easier to wined back in. Kind of like on the one hundred-foot tape measures. There is a belt clip, so you can hook it onto your tool belt or your belt. For the price I think it’s worth having one in my tool box.

The Commercial Electric 15 foot compact low memory steel fish tape is an ideal size for short runs thru walls or across ceilings. It makes feeding wires to a wall mounted flat panel tv, speaker wires, home theater or home network cables, etc. simple. It also allows you to run wires under a carpet or running romex wire from one electrical box to another easier due to its small size compared to typical 50 foot steel fish tapes used by electricians. The compact size easily stores in tool box or bag and the belt clip allows you to carry it on you. I used this mini fish tape to run cable wire and home network cables for wall mounted tv and computer.

Go'in Fishing. I am putting in a CCTV set up. Pulling the wires was hard with a coat hanger. The fish tape makes it so much easier. Coat hanger gets caught in the area between the sheet rock on one side and the sheet rock on the other side both going in and coming out with the wire. A fish tape makes it so much easier because it is thinner and more flexible than a coat hanger.

My 100 ft fish tape is way overkill for fishing ethernet cable between floors, so I got this and really like it. It's small and has a belt loop. The low memory tape comes out straight and is about a flexible as a tape measure. I can move it sideways to get precise positioning. A common problem with fish tapes is that the end comes off and I was initially concerned about the plastic end on this tape, but closer inspection shows that the eyelet is all metal with a protective plastic cover. If extra force is needed when pulling you can't use the case - it just winds the remaining tape in the case tighter. The instructions say to use pliers directly on the tape to pull. The only negative comment I have is that the rewind knob has no crank handle so rewinding is a little tedious, but on the bright side there won't be much to rewind.

Home Depot employee suggested this item for helping to run electric wiring through walls for setting up a new electrical outlet in house. The item made it very easy to help route the wiring to the location needed.
