Q:what diameter of hole is required? Some dimensions in description would have been helpful.

      Answer This Question

A:  The bushing is for coax, so assuming RG6, that's like 6.9mm (.275") inner diameter to the bushing. I think I've used a 5/16" bit (.3125") and sealed them with silicone.

A:  It’s about 3/8 of an inch. I don’t have the exact dimensions.

Q:I need to convert this to a split Bushing. Will I be able make a lateral razor cut to open it up so I can inset the coax?

A:  Yes, but you will have to put a little silicon on the split to keep it waterproof. I always put some caulk on the lip to keep water from wicking in.

Q:Do you have to cut these to fit the metal cable end of an antenna coaxial cable through?

A:  THD Pro. If you can push a coaxcable WITH the metal terminal end that screws onto the male TV post, I'll but you a steak dinner with the trimmings. I suggest you pick up a pack of these and try it. IF you have a cable with a bare end only THEN can you do it. I really can't understand your reply. When I bought them, the HD associate, and a couple of customers who did this installation work professionally agreed that it couldn't be done and a possible solution was to cut a groove along the body of the bushing to spread it. Have you actually looked at these bushings and a cable with a finished end???????? Nope, if you did you would understand. READ AGAIN, THE FINISHED METAL END THAT THREADS ONTO THE TV INPUT POST. Very simple. So since you disagree PLEASE show me how this magic of yours works.

A:  Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. You will not have to cut them, and instead, push the bushing in to the hole in the wall or door, and you will be bale to pass the cable through the hole cover. Please review the use & care guide if need be! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

A:  No, don't cut it. cut the plug end off the cable, slip the cable through the bushing and add an F connector. Theres 2 types, twist on/tool less, and crimp on, Just match it with your cable RG59, or RG6.

A:  HD gave a very incorrect answer. They did not read or understand or look at the product. I asked if you had to cut the bushing to fit the metal connectore at the end of the cable through. "Do you have to cut these to fit the metal cable end of an antenna coaxial cable through?", was the question. You CANNOT push the cable through if it has the metal end on it. The plastic is hard and the hole is the exact diameter of the cable. The metal end is too thick to go through. I know, I bought these and had to do a good bit of cutting to spread the bushing open enough to get it onto the cable. I now have to use silicone seal or other adhesive to close it up. Whoever gave this answer from Home Depot either made an assumption that there was no terminal end on the cable (meaning they really didn't read the question) or they didn't even look at the product. Shame Shame.

A:  I always pass the cable thru without the coax connector on it and crimp it on once it is passed thru. The cable without the end on it is usually a tight fit as they are waterproof, a little soap helps. No you can't pass it thru with the coax connector on.

the product needs a companion. The split version to be used for applications such as replacement for damaged seals. Also plastic especially white is not UV friendly.

Ran 2 conductor speaker wire through this. Looks nice compared to wall plate. Used closed cell insulation tape to wrap around the inserted portion to get a snug fit in the bigger hole in wall to pull wires through.
