A: Hi Suchi, Thank you for your question! Yes, This planter has drain holes. Repot your plants when they becomes root bound. (A houseplant is root bound when roots appear in the soil or begin to escape through drain holes in the pot bottom.) Never repot houseplants using soil from your yard.
A: Hi! The Yucca Cane can be placed outdoors in frost free regions in the shade. If placed in direct sunlight, the leaves may burn. We hope this helps!
A: Hi Satya, Thank you for your question. Does a plant need to be repotted? I generally follow two rules for repotting. Have I had it in the same soil for 2 years and do I see roots growing out of the drainage. If you answer yes to either question it is time to repot. If it has been in the same soil for two years you want to give it fresh soil. If you see no roots coming out of the drainage holes then you may return it to the same pot with new soil. If you see roots growing out of the drainage it is time for a larger pot. You do not want to increase your pot size by more than two inches in height and width. Going with a larger pot leaves areas of unused soil that may cause root rot for the plant. I grow many plants in my basement but in rooms where I don't have windows I have set up lights to bring some brightness. I find LED lights work best because they don't get hot and they do use a lot of electricity.
A: Hi chefcw! The Yucca Cane will only need to be repotted if the roots no longer have room to grow. The plant will grow as larger with time. We hope this helps!
A: Hi chefcw, Thanks for visiting our site! I'm glad to hear that your Yucca is doing well. Pull the plant out of its container to examine the roots. If the roots are growing horizontally around the pot, it is time to re pot. When you re-pot a tropical plant, the next sized container should only be a couple of inches larger than the one that it is currently in. If there is horizontal root growth, make vertical cuts or slices to the roots. This will promote healthy growth. Tropicals need their roots to be confined to perform well. The roots should be touching the walls of the container when you pot it. If the pot is too large, the plant will redirect its efforts to root growth until the roots touch the pot. If needed, re-pot your yucca into a 10 or 12 inch pot for the next few years. Thank you for asking, -Travis
