I am trying to find led light bulbs that are suitable for an outdoor dusk to dawn post light with fully enclosed light fixtures. Will these work or can anyone tell me what type or led bulbs I need or any cfl light bulbs that will work?
Asked by: Dummy
LEDs are best because they are tolerant of low temperatures and are the most efficient and long lasting. This device will work well, though you don't need a dimmable device (usually slightly more expensive than non-dimmable devices) for post lights. Having said that, you don't usually need 60W either, so if you do use this device and replace your wall switch with a dimmer, you can set the intensity just how you want it :-)

Got these for our master closet which has a motion-sensor wall switch. When the light turns off automatically, these bulbs only go dim...not off completely, even after a long time. If you manually turn off the light, they go off completely as expected. Haven’t had this problem with other LEDs in those fixtures. Any reason why these don’t seem to work?
Asked by: Boernegal
These are more efficient than many earlier generation LED lamps, and with better electronics they dim properly to a lower intensity. The problem is actually in your motion sensor, which is probably of the old technology that is not compatible with LEDS. I had a similar problem in my garage, and replaced the motion sensor with a new LED-compatible model.

Why? 1) Very high color rendering index. 90+. The number nobody else likes to talk about because theirs are not good. These Cree = Beautiful light! Incandescent's are 100 (perfect color accuracy), but not energy efficient and their color temperature is very worn/yellow 2700K. Halogen are slightly more efficien than traditional incandescent and have less yellow 2800-3000K color temp. Fluorescent bulbs have terrible color accuracy, full of mercury, low to tun on, which are reasons everybody hates them. Basic LED are only ok. 2) These have what I argue is the perfect color temperature: 3000K; not too yellow, not too blue. 3) great omnidirectional dispersion of light. 4) instant on and no buzz or hum. 5) work in enclosed fixtures. 6) dimmable. These are not the cheapest LED's but they are the best. I'm replacing all my halogens with these.

I normally prefer the frosted glass look for lightbulbs, but in a lamp or enclosed lighting fixture, that doesn't matter. I chose this lightbulb because the CRI is high, and they say it can be used in enclosed fixtures. The lighting quality of this bulb is very warm and resembles an incandescent completely. Besides the look of the bulb itself, there is no difference in light quality when compared to the old bulb. I also like how they say it is dimmable, which I haven't tried yet, but I have heard that these work well with dimmers. This lightbulb uses 1/6 the amount of energy of a typical 60w bulb, but it equally as bright. There is no reason to not switch to LEDs, because LEDs are very affordable and high quality these days.

The high cri of this bulb makes it extremely pleasing there is a lot less green Hue to this LED bulb which makes it stand out over all the other LED bulbs that I have bought for my home. It's worth the extra cost. And being shatterproof it's a big plus
