Answer This Question

A:  Yes. We are using them in enclosed fixtures, including in the bathroom. The box has wording on it to say ok for enclosed fixtures. I believe 75W is the highest that is approved for enclosed use.

Nice light color for a few months.
This bulb died in less than a year, and was very expensive. I liked the light color for the few months it lasted. Made in china junk. Trying sylvania made in usa version next, hopefully it lasts longer.

These are some of the best lights that you can have in your home. They are easy on the eyes and I wish home depot would stop selling those other cheap lights because they don't last.

There was a law passed to phase out incandescent light bulbs- they can't be be manufactured in the U.S., because they don't meet federal energy-efficiency standards. The last of the G E Reveal bulbs that we had blew out - (all in the same week) so the switch was made. Did not want bulbs with that "blue fishbowl" kind of light (cool), so stayed away from 5000K (Kelvin) and up. Didn't want to be too warm or "yellow" so 2700K was out. Wanted bulbs that rendered color nicely and kind of in the middle of the Kelvin (warm-cool) spectrum, especially for winter when lights are turned on earlier. Decided on the Bright White (3000K). The 3000 Kelvin in this bulb is pretty much in the middle with just a slight warmth to the light that it gives off without casting a strong yellow as a 2700K would. Cree compared to G E Reveal: Cree - GE Reveal 3000K 2700K 1100 Lumen 790 Lumen (Lumens are the brightness - more lumens = more brightness) 12 Watts used 53 Watts used Really like everything about these bulbs and they are enegery efficient, using only 12 Watts vs 53. Works great with dimmer switches - nice to get more light even when dimmed very low. No issues with flickering lights because our dimmer switches are only a year old and can handle these newer LED bulbs. If you have issues with flickering LEDs and haven't changed your dimmer in a long time, that's most likely the issue. To give you an idea of color rendering of the bulbs, ( they really do give nice natural colors), I've attached 2 photos, taken with the lights at the brightest setting on the dimmer switch. I like that these bulbs are quite a bit brighter (more lumens) because it gives more options when dimming them. They also give exceptional light and color rendering, with 3000K being a good balance between warm and cool color temperature (Kelvins). They're also shatter proof which is pretty cool, too.
