Q:Can this be used to crack/cut cast iron soil pipe?

                    Answer This Question

A:  This is a wrench and not a cutter. It may be possibly crack a cast iron pipe but it has not got cutting blades.Zip

                    by|May 5, 2023

A:  Very doubtful. It is designed to hold large diameter items, but not cut. I used it to turn a crankshaft pulley on a seized engine.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  No; this tool is designed to wrap around six inch diameter pipe (or smaller) and unscrew, turn, or move the pipe. I used it to unscrew a filter housing on my well water inlet line.

                        by|May 5, 2023

A:  No not really, it will not cut cleanly. it is designed to hold or turn large diameter pipe/circular things ( like wrapping around crankshaft pulley and removing the pulley bolt) it works in tight places when a pipe wrench is too bulky, also can get more leverage because the handle is thinner to get a pipe over (cheater bar)

A:  Hi Eric, this tool is not designed to cut/crack cast iron soil pipe.

A:  bugbug, the chain wrenches are typically used on large diameter pipe and aren't designed for a curb key.

Works great and it makes my job easier...!!! As a field operator in the oilfield, we do a lot of pump maintenance. And with the 24’ inch chain wrench I purchased at Home Depot, I use it to turn the drive shaft (of the Frac Pump) to move the plungers in or out in any direction without having to switch the position of the chain! How great it that?!

I used the chain wrench to loosen a water filter housing that would not break loose with a cheap plastic filter housing wrench. The chain wrench did the trick.
