Would this work like an impact cordless driver to drive screws?
Asked by: Drilr
Not at all. This drill impacts into the concrete like a light hammer blow. An impact driver pulses torque.

Can this be used as a regular drill and a hammer drill (two in one) or would I have to buy a separate drill for regular use?
Asked by: chickee
It alternates between standard and hammer drill via an easy switch flip. A large selling point for me was the power along with dual usage.

Can I use for mix concrete

Asked by: Abel
No. You need a low rpm 500 rpm ,high torque model. Dewalt makes one. HarborF has one.

Drills smoothly and fairly quick through various types of concrete even some with many rocks. I've drilled many holes all the way up to 3/4 in. with no problems. Drill still runs great. In certain situations I've started with smaller bits and work up to the final size. This keeps the bits cool and reduces the downward pressure you have to apply to drill. Also starting small helps reduce the possibility of cracking the concrete. Use high quality bits. Masonry bits can be expensive, but well worth the investment for fast drilling and good results. All hammer drills are noisy so wear hearing protection and safety glasses.

I bought this for 2 projects, 1 to drill 3/8 holes for red heads to attach a gazebo to the ground, and 2 to drill 3/4" holes to mount a 2 post lift to the garage floor. The drill did a fine job on the gazebo, but failed miserably 1/2 way on the first 3/4" hole of the lift. Motor started slowing down and acting like it was binding. Let it cool off, started again, still the same. So I stated a new hole to see if it was truly binding. It wasn't. No sure, but I think it is dead. Keeping it until I can try it again on smaller holes.

I used it to drill anchors in a 1945 era foundation wall that was extremely hard with large gravel in the mix. This drill is hard hitting and faster than the one it replaced which was not a De Walt. I like everything about this drill The depth gauge is nice too. The only thing that I would change is the ability of the clamp on side handle to shift forward and twist a little bit under very hard pressure. I have had it about 10 days. It is a great fit at a good price for my occasional need.

It isn't too heavy and it actually works very well. I needed a hammer drill to install some brackets into cement so I had to drill several large holes so the anchors would fit. I think 3/8? Anyhow, this baby did the job quite well, and quickly. I am a homeowner and have use it only occasion since, but haven't had any issues. BTW I had purchased a more expensive other brand to do the same job and I returned it because it simply was not up to the task.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Drill I had difficulty drilling into concrete block with an old variable speed drill. Did some research and decided to try a hammer drill. Went to Home Depot and with an associate's assistance, I selected this DeWALT 1/2in VARIABLE SPEED REVERSIBLE HAMMER DRILL. It has a switch that allows you to go from regular to hammer, and it made the job very easy. The attachable handle and depth guide is easy to add, and for the price I paid it is a great value. For the average homeowner who needs a drill for household projects, you can't go wrong. I recommend this corded drill over battery operated. I expect it to last for many years.

Bought this so as not to ruin my 20v drill. Had six holes to drill for my addition project. 1/2" bit, 9 inches deep on 4 and the other 2 maybe 6 inches deep. Did 2 a day so as not to overheat drill. Took maybe 10 minutes per hole. 20v drill was taking long, did not want to burn it up so bought this. Worked great. Thought maybe the bit was bad but tried this and it was stronger than the 20v Dewalt.
