I dont think so, it did a great job of removing floor tiles and mortar, wall tiles too just need to be careful about going thru to whats behind the tiles.

Is there 1/8 inch drill bit available to fit in this drill or do I need an adapter

Asked by 33333 November 29, 2020

Answer

Yes, you can find that's size in the principal brands. No adapter is necessary.

If I needed to run a 4 1/4” core bit, would this tool work

Asked by 5315 June 11, 2020
1
Answer

I haven't tried it for that size and type of bit, but it seems unlikely. This drill is quite powerful for much smaller diameter bits, but probably lacks the torque and run time required for the much larger diameters.

Will this drill a 1” hole, 10” deep in solid concrete?

Asked by Joe May 20, 2020
1
Answer

I have used this drill to make 1/2" diameter holes 2" deep in CBU and it slices through like butter. But a 1" diameter hole covers a lot more surface area, and concrete can be much more dense than CBU. I will guess that it will be up to the challenge. However, I would be tempted to drill one or two smaller pilot holes first to help clear out some of the waste from the hole before using the 1" diameter bit. This drill packs a pretty powerful punch, but it's not a pneumatic jackhammer.

Can this drill drive a one inch auger bit into thick wood? I want to core holes into hardwood tre...

Asked by NagyMagyar May 15, 2020
1
Answer

This tool packs a wallop of power, but I haven't attempted to drive an auger into tree stumps. I suspect the success will depend as much (or more) on the design and sharpness of the auger as it will the drills rotary power. An auger that takes a long time, suggests to me that perhaps the auger edges have dulled? Also, because wood is fibrous, it would seem that the hammer-drill feature might not be effective.

Can you use this to pound rebar through wood into ground?

Asked by Jay April 30, 2020
1
Answer

I've never tried to pound rebar through wood, and suggest that given the structural property of wood, and the blunted end shape of the rebar, that there is a possibility that the wood will crack. This is a fantastic tool, and without question it can easily drill through both wood, masonry, concrete, asphalt and earth with the proper drill bit. A 1/2" drill will work fine for the rebar. You might consider that approach.

Can this be used with an ice auger attachment?

Asked by Bela December 15, 2019
1
Answer

I've searched extensively for the proper SDS ice auger adapters, but nothing really exists for the hammer drills. Usually most people just use a standard 3/8 inch chuck, on any plain old cordless drill. The percussion this tool generates is not neccessary for drilling ice fishing holes.

Pair this bad boi with a Flexvolt battery and you're pretty much unstoppable. Loved this thing no need to haul a generator nor cable working on a roof.(note: the fan did not do much on the roof but it's great in almost any other situation)

After spending an hour with a hammer and chisel by hand to take up only 2 12x12 floor tiles, I went looking for a better way. I was thinking about a demo hammer but they cost 600+ and are way overkill for this. I ran to HD and picked this up for ~200 and the bosch sds+ tile chisel. I tore through all the remaining floor tiles in about 10 mins in hammer only mode. This tool is a beast. It takes a couple mins to learn the right technique but then it's easy. Having this tool just for removing tile is worth the cost. I don't have a need for drilling into concrete right now, but nice to know I can. I might even try chiseling some crumbling rocks in the yard with a pointed chisel bit. This tool is way more powerful than i expected. A couple tips: The side handle twists to tighten (not meant to rotate around the tool), I didn't realize that until after I was done and it was too loose. Try to position the chisel under the tile where the thinset is for best results. Whole tiles will come up that way. You can control the speed by pressing the trigger lightly but you have to put pressure on the bit before it engages the hammer.

Time saver!!
I personally have owned this for about three months but have used my company’s for about two years now. This tool makes the job go by way faster. Don’t need to look for an extension cord or plugs to use this. No cords wrapping around you or in line of sight. Easy to use on ladders or lifts. I’ve had no issues with all kinds of batteries. it’s light weight and delivers plenty power. I recommend this in any industrial, commercial, or residential work field.

DeWalt Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it came time to renovate my basement, I knew I would need to update my old DeWalt 18v tools. My wife gave me clearance to buy every tool I would need. I’ve always been a fan of DeWalt, so it was an easy choice. Anyone that has used a regular cordless drill with a “hammer drill” feature will know that is ok for just a few holes. I needed to drill about 200 holes into concrete to fir walls and fasten bottom plates. This tool made drilling all those holes almost fun. I don’t know how I have lived without it. I also used the chipping hammer function with a small chisel bit to remove the old shower pan with great results. If you are reading this, just buy it. You will not regret it.

I have other 20v Dewalt tools so I already had the batteries and chargers. Bought the tool because it was affordable. Took it home and used the heck out of it for two weeks drilling and chiseling holes in concrete from 2” to 6”! Didn’t abuse it just used it hard. The tool performed amazingly well. Never disappointed and the batteries lasted longer than I expected per charge. I am exceptionally pleased with my purchase and the price. There is absolutely no downside.
