A:  Yes, the DCD800P1 is compatible with all DEWALT 20V Max and 20V/60V FLEXVOLT batteries no matter the amp hour. Note: the higher the amp hour, the longer the runtime.

Q:The battery that came with this combo is shown on the right. The left bat was purchased with a different combo tool. Both batteries are dated 2023. Only the right bat keeps the fuel gauge LEDs lit for a few seconds after releasing the button. Explanation?

            New Favorite Drill/Driver
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right out of the box the fit was great (I have extra large hands according to glove manufacturers ) , comfortable weight , good balance , with stability when resting it on a work surface (even with long bits/extensions ) . Plenty of power , even in the Hi range it was easy to bury 4" deck screws in the wood . Low range is pretty much unstoppable with a feeling like a "turbo" kicking in when fully depressing the trigger ; unless the clutch is set lower , then it's pretty sensitive for such a powerful beast . Also like the way the it locks when when the trigger is released so that the fastener can be given a final twist to set it even though the clutch is on a softer setting . And then there is the Light . This is a great feature with it being adjustable through a wide arc and 2 settings for brightness with an "Off" setting too . All around excellent tool in every way that matters to me . Highly recommend .

              What’s not to like.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So powerful, easy to handle, great torch feature. The grip is firm. Fits in smaller places. Great improvement on the LED light. So much brighter than older models. Feels powerful enough to drive a screw through anything. Can’t wait to purchase more Dewalt tools.

                Great Hobbyist Drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very pleasantly surprised with this drill. Initially, it looks like a slightly larger version of the 12v drill and I thought this was going to be just something small and light to keep around the house for quick and easy drilling. The DCD800 is a fully capable drill/driver. At 2lbs 13oz, it is half a pound lighter than the DCD996 and is a full 2" stubbier. It feels solid in your hand, with the balance being just over the grip so it doesn't tilt and it easier on the wrist. The grip itself is very comfortable. It's got soft rubber ribbing along the sides and fits my hand well. I typically wear large gloves and have long fingers, but the grip is comfortable and doesn't feel cramped at all. Using the drill is exactly what you'd expect from a powerful brushless drill. I started using it just drilling holes to hang a couple decorations around the house, but then started having fun with it. I drilled some 1/2" holes in a 2x4 and it went right through like the XR model. I threw a 2" forstner bit in it to see how things went and it struggled, but my other cordless drills can't do that well either. The only thing it lacks is a hammer function. If you're going to be drilling into concrete or anything else that needs a hammer drill, this is not the drill for you. After a few hours of using it, I'm liking the DCD800 more than the DCD996 XR. While the XR is great for just about everything, it is heavier and isn't more powerful in any way that is noticeable to a hobbyist/DIYer. The stubbiness of it makes it easier to hook onto your belt while working indoors. Without a bit, it's actually thinner than my leg and won't bump into anything as I move around. If you don't need a hammer drill and just need a good drill for home projects, this is definitely the one to go for.

                  An excellent drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a small custom woodworking business and I have a variety of drills for different tasks. For heavier tasks I have been using an older brush DCD7890 for years and this drill will definitely replace it. I have had the chance to use the DCD800 for a few weeks on various projects. I found it to be a great replacement for my 890…. a powerful and well balanced drill. I do have a DCD 708, a lighter duty drill that I purchased to use in tight spaces given its short front to back dimension. Turns out this drill is almost the same dimension. A real plus at times. In the short time I’ve had the drill I have driven a few hundred pocket screws and couple of dozen 3” #8 square drive cabinet hanging screws, all with ease. Also had to drill several 2 1/2” and 3” holes with hole saws and this drill didn't slow down..cut through 1 1/2” of ply with ease. For furniture, cabinetry and the like this drill cant be beat in my experience.

                    Great Drill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great drill. It has a good amount of torque, and the speeds are pretty handy. The swivel led is cool, would likely be pretty handy if working in low light areas. The metal chuck is nice and the knurling is nice and grippy. Other dewault drills I have had in the past had plastic chucks, which could get married up pretty easily. Metal is definitely an upgrade and makes the tool seem more top tier.

                      Honey, I shrunk the drill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I got this drill, a buddy said “That’s a cute little thing” in the least complimentary way possible. Although he was just poking fun, he changed his tune when he found out this drill offers 1/2” drive in a world of 3/8” drills, and at this drill’s small size, that’s a huge advantage. The torque this drill has, plus being able to work in spaces you previously needed a dedicated small form factor drill for ( not to mention that small usually means weak with regard to drills), makes it an instant must-have for all kinds of jobs. This XR drill has been punching above its weight since I got it, helping me to get some wiring and assembly tasks done coming up on Christmas, and with the extreme cold temps, it helped me accomplish a very cold outdoor handrail repair job before some company arrived (don’t want mom to slip and fall!). Needless to say, this little guy is going in the truck so I have it wherever I happen to be should the need arise! Another improvement over previous offerings is the incorporated work light, which is now adjustable for beam angle s well as duration. With it, you can focus the light on your workspace around the bit, or aim it flatter, to illuminate more of your work area. Another handy feature for contractors is the Tool Connect socket, which allows you to connect DeWalt’s Bluetooth tracking technology. Great for finding specific tools at a worksite. Now if they could just make the tool return itself when a friend terminally “borrows” a tool… 🤣 Finally, the drill is just a powerhouse, packing that torque and additional battery life into a package that’s 1/2” shorter than the previous version, and far smaller than my DeWalt XR Hammer Drill. The metal, tool-less chuck and belt clip are things we’ve come to expect, DeWalt just manages to make something as mundane as a drill elegant as well as functional and super handy.

                        Best Drill on the Market
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned Dewalt tools for many years and own their previous 1/2” drills. This new drill has proved to be an upgrade from the previous models in so many ways. The adjustable light is so versatile and helpful. This drill is lightweight but has crazy power! Feels great in your hand. Love the 2 speeds versus 3 in previous models. All around a huge upgrade from previous models of the 1/2” 20v drills. Another homerun Dewalt. Well done!!

DCD800 DeWALT's Most Powerful Compact Drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Most Compact and Most Powerful DeWALT 20V XR Drill Driver has to be the DCD800 Drill Driver. UNIT WATTS OUT (UWO) is what DeWALT uses to compare power between Drills, not using RPM, BPM or Torque alone. DeWALT claims the DCD800 is “up to 40% more UWO vs. the DCD791B using DCB205 battery or DCBP034 DEWALT POWERSTACK™ battery.” The DCD800 has 900 Unit Watts Out (UWO) compared to the DCD708 ATOMIC Drill Driver and DCD709 Hammer Drill, both with 340 UWO, that is 164.70% more power. The DCD796 XR with 460 UWO, that is 95.65% more power. Even compared to the larger DeWALT Drills DCD996 with 830 UWO, DCD998 with 1,072 UWO and DCD999 with 1,219 UWO, the DCD800 is no slouch. The DCD800 just feels like it has more power when you pick it up. While smaller than other DeWALT drills, there is a sense that this drill means business when you hold it. With 2-Speed settings at 0-650 / 0-2,000 RPM, only the DCD996 and DCD999 have more RPM and both are Hammer Drills. So the DCD800 can hold its own against its older, bigger cousins. While I love my DCD796 and DCD999, I’m beginning to love my DCD800 more.

Big Power in a Little Package
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reporting on the 20v MAX XR 1/2 Drill/Driver from Dewalt. First thought as I unboxed this beast is how small yet comfortable it was. It is very balanced with or without the battery installed. It comes with a belt clip to install if you want, that makes it very handy especially when you have a lot of screwing to do. Also in the box is the carry bag which is small to make it easy to handle, yet big enough to add a bit set or extra battery or tool for a quick repair job. It has the 5AH mega battery and charger that I charged initially for several hours to make sure it was ready to go. I do a lot of older home renovations and the size of this makes it very appealing for when I need to get into tight places. But don't let the small size fool you, it still make incredible torque for even the most difficult applications. I tried it against my 18v hammer drill first. We hung several Christmas decorations and I had to drill into the brick for most of them. Even though this drill is not a hammer drill, it preformed effortlessly in the brick, just as well as my old 18v hammer drill. My next task for the drill was repairing a back deck. We had to use 3" screws to fix some supports and add some 2x12's to fix some older sections. The drill handled the job flawlessly with little to no bogging down at all. In fact we still had 2 bars left on the battery after a working most of the day. One of my favorite features of this drill came in very handy for this job as well. It has a swivel LED work light that is mounted under the handle on top of the battery. This is so helpful. You can adjust it to hit exactly where you need to see and switch if from trigger reaction to always on for those really dark jobs. Much brighter than the LED lights that are above the trigger and only point straight out. I like the feel of this unit. Being a XR it has the steel chuck that you know is gonna hold and last and makes it easy to change bits when working. All in all, I give this unit an A+ in all categories.

                              Better then the DCD790? Yep!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The New DCD800. I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but I was wrong. My old DCD790 has been my favorite drill driver. It was a huge improvement over my old cordless drill. Really, how much could DeWalt have improved it? From reading and looking at the pictures, the only thing that stuck out to me was the new light, but honestly it seemed kind of gimmicky with the swivel or pivot. Well, it arrive just in time to finish building my shed. The first thing I noticed was the size. It’s a little stubbier than the 790. It’s also a tad wider. Similar or at least same metal chuck. Similar height and it felt good in the hand. The grip is also improved but that could also be in part of the improvement in the balance. Since it’s not as long, it’s definitely balanced better. If this drill preforms, I thought I could have a new favorite in my box. Well, the drill is a beast. It feels a little more powerful than my old 790. I was able to drill multiple ¾ inch holes through 6x6s and sink hundreds of 3 and 4 inch screws through 2x4s, 4x4s, and some 6x6s with no issues. The balance is so much better. I was able to use it for hours with less hand fatigue. It’s only about a ½ to an inch shorter, but it really makes a difference. That length reduction really helps to get into tighter spots. My biggest surprise was the light. It is so much brighter than the old light. The light on the 790 kind of illuminated the area you’re drilling. The 800 lights up the entire area. With no light in my shed, yet, I was able to turn on and leave it on. It really was a lot brighter. I also like the ability to pivot it. It’s a very solid pivot mechanism. It doesn’t flip around. The clutch was very easy to use. I feel it’s a little stiffer than the 790. A one setting on the 790 could hardly run a screw into a 1x3 piece of pine with out it activating and moving it to a 2 or a 3 to finish. Until you get used to it, be careful on softer woods. It could be just because it’s new and stiffer. Time will tell. Well, if you are in the market for a drill driver, this is it. A solid choice. Really a no brainier. You shove on one of DeWalt’s new Power Stacked batteries, you’ll have a very compact full power drill driver. No compromises here.
