Does this drill work with ground augers used for plantings and bulbs?

Asked by Otto February 22, 2021
1
Answer

Sure - but just be careful. Home Depot sells augers as well. The difference in this case is that a real auger will have 2 handles which is easier to control than a drill with 1 handle, but it will work nevertheless.

Hi Bowser, Yes the model DW235G has a brush type motor.

Does this drill have a trigger lock to keep it running?

Asked by Bowser October 18, 2020
1
Answer

No - it does not. However, this drill is very powerful and in my opinion, a trigger lock could be quite dangerous. For example, if you were drilling through studs, rafters or floor joists and come upon a knot or nail in the wood, you might want to stop when you feel that you're hitting it. If you had a trigger lock and just let go of the drill, it would keep going uncontrollably. Smaller, less powerful tools are less likely to go wild, which is why you might see locks on them. If you find one, be careful.

How well will it mix drywall mud?

Asked by Alex April 30, 2020

Answers

Mixing drywall with a whip is not a problem. However ... I would recommend that while you're on the Home Depot web site, you search for "drywall mixers" because you might find better options. Because drywall mud is so thick, you might want to consider a mixer that has 2 handles so that you can control it with both hands. It's much safer, causes less fatigue and costs very little more than the drill that you mentioned.

Will these fit hex drill bits?

Asked by OCM August 19, 2019

Answer

Round or Hex, they all fit in the chuck of this drill. It is also keyed so you can get the bits tight, no slipping.

You should have received a yellow strap with the key. It wraps around the cord and the holes in one end go on each end of the key. It then travels with the drill.

Great replacement! This unit is powerful
My 30 year old DW100 drill finally bit the dust, and this is what I got to replace it. I hope it lasts as long as my old Dewalt.

Great drill, but watch out...so powerful
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this drill for 15 years and it's indestructible. Most powerful drill I ever owned and it will never quit.

Fantastic Drill
Variable Speed and Movable Handle allow me to use both hands. Change position when drilling vertical and horizontal. Purchased a small duffle to hold drill. Perfect combination.

This drill comes without the alignment bar and doesn't have the switch to change from hammer drill to normal drill mode. For an additional $20 I could have bought that version and been a lot happier. A lot of folks are complaining that this doesn't cut it...It's all a function of the hardness of the material your drilling through. I am cutting 3/8 inch holes in a foundation laid down in the late 60's. The cement is hard, and takes about 1 hour per hole. Expect to consume a few bits as you go. I can see how this would cut through cinder block, or "light" cement, but a foundation type of hardness is going to take you a "while"...Spend the extra $20 and get the drill with the option to switch off the "hammer" mode and you'll have a great drill for normal drilling work, too... Includes a nice long cord, and a rubber connector to lock the chuck key on to the power cord. No case. Power handle works great...Says it's made in the USA!!! Yeah!

I have had this drill for a few years and I like it so much that I bought one for my son for Christmas. It is heavy duty and can easily drill a hole in a 4"X4" post.
