Now, with this assortment of 5 different WiseGuides board spacers made by DeckWise, Do-It-Yourself (DIY homeowners) and deck contractors have every gap option available in their tool box. The engineered blade construction of these board spacers makes it possible to use them in all positions between deck and patio boards. Whether you are a Pro installer or a novice, building a deck with ideal gap sizes between deck boards is imperative. Proper drainage and drying on any deck is determined by using the appropriate gap size. This assortment of gap spacers make any deck build easy to achieve. Q:for wood 6in treaded, what size gap should imake between boards?

Answer This Question

A:  Depends what look you are after and if the wood will shrink. For treated deck boards I like to use the 1/8th inch spacer because it will shrink a bit for the look I am after. Hope that helps.

    A:  If the wood has high moisture content (feels wet) then you install the boards tight together. When they dry out, you will have about a 1/4" gap. If the boards are already dry, (usually stamped KDAT for Kiln dried after treatment) then you will want to leave a gap of about 1/4".

      These things were great. Several options for me to choose the exact spacing I wanted. They’re also tough. I clamped my boards together and got a few stuck and pulled them out with pliers with no breaking.
