Q:How to replace rp5649

Answer This Question

A: The replacement is simple provided you have a 22mm deep well socket and wrench. Available at HD for less than $4. To replace do the following steps: 1. Pry top cover of round crystal control knob off. 2. Remove scrrew and pull control knob off valve. 3. Remove 2 screws holding chrome cover plate and lift off tub/shower wall. 4. Using socket wrench remove old diverter from valve. Spray diverter with penetrating oil or WD40 if it seems to be stuck. 5. I would suggest wrapping threads on new diverter with teflon tape. 6. Screw new diverter into valve. 7. Replace chrome cover and install the 2 screws to secure it to valve 8. Install round control knob and secure with screw then snap on small cover plate 9. You're done. Test it to verify it works.

A: Hi Lalit, Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model RP5649 can be replaced by unscrewing it from the valve using a 7/8" deep well socket wrench and then installing the new one the same way. We recommend turning off your water supply first. Thanks. Jody

A: Box end wrench over hex and und unscrew. Remove old one. Install new one, be sure to hold inner shaft in position so that slot will engage the plastic flapper. Once threaded be sure the push rod moves and tighten in place with box end wrench.
