A:  If you scroll down the Home Depot product listing page you will come to a section entitled Product Details. I you expand the section it contains PDF’s of the product documents. If you open the instructions, you will find this addressed in the part covering Operation section 2. It says 2. Testing Overflow Switch (if connected) Manually overfill tank with water. If overflow safety switch is wired correctly, condensate pump will shut down and a red LED will illuminate.

A:  You can take the top out of the reservoir and physically push the float up until it goes into alarm.

A:  Home Depot moved the location of the model numbers on there listings. On the top right of the page you will find both the internet number aka the SKU as well as the model number, which in this case is CP-22. If you scroll down the page you will find the header "Info and Guides" Under that you will find PDF's of different documents that will outline more information about this product.

A:  This pump like many has a high water switch built into it. The internal switch will engage if the water level in the unit gets to high. You have an option of using this switch or not using it. A switch like this would be described as a set of "dry contacts". "Dry" in that they are unpowered. Think of it as if you went to The Home Depot and purchased a single light switch. The switch itself has no power supply but can be installed into a powered system. You could certainly purchase an appropriate high water alarm separately and use this switch to actuate it.

Q:Is it ok to run this dry, temporarily, just to make sure it is working?

A:  Its never a good thing to run a pump dry as the water both provides cooling and lubrication. However it is not the end of the world if you need to do it for a short period. However, as the float switch is internal I am am at a loss to know how you would turn it on without putting water in the tank. As a best practice when I test or install a new pump, I put water into the tank via one of the unused ports. I do this unit the pump cycles. By running the pump I prime it and confirm it works.

A:  I don’t ever like to run pumps dry. Instructions say to fill with water to test. Just turning on to see if pump motor runs does not give a good test.

I have had this diverstech pump for a little over 2 years and have had to repair it for the third time. now the gasket around the pump has gone bad. Can't find the replacement so guess I'm buying a new one. No way I'll buy this brand again, or the over priced terrible Everbilt brand HD carries in store.

Exactly what I was hoping for, pushes the water out much better than my older one ever did.
