AnswersI originally asked the question. All is plumb. It was installed properly. After more research, we found this video which should be very helpful to others that purchased the door: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=YkWApcCphrg I have to agree with the engineer’s answer. Do not over open the door, which is easily done. I would not purchase this door again.
What is the measurement across the top of the panel and door? Looks like less than the 45" bottom.

AnswersI think it is important to use the support bar. You need good strength in case someone leans against the shower door stationary piece. There are a lot of forces at play here and you need all the support you can get.

AnswersYes. The pan does not matter as long as there is a flat edge where the stationary glass support channel can be glued onto. Also the pan must be at least longer than the length of the door, approx 45 inches.

We renovated our bathroom this year, and this shower door is one of the first things we chose. It's so sleek and beautiful. We did something different, though. We installed the towel bar/handle on the inside where a wet washcloth could drip in the shower instead of on the floor. There is a knob on the outside of the door to open it. It makes more sense to me this way.
A squeegee makes it easy to keep the glass sparkling clean.
This shower door is fantastic.

We renovated our main bath, and I am so happy with the purchase of this door. I bought the brushed nickel finish, and it is gorgeous. We installed the towel bar on the inside of the door, which made more sense for drying a washcloth. There is a knob on the opposite side which I use to open the door. If installed "correctly", the knob would be on the inside near the hinge and useless.
Rarely, a couple of water drops manage to get through the opening and land on the bathmat, but it's not even enough to dampen the mat. Everyone comments on how beautiful and open the shower appears. I'm so thrilled that I came across this on the Home Depot website.

Love this shower door! Perfect for my bathroom remodel, I replaced a bulky glass box with a very open tub/shower concept. I chose this door because it was a bit wider than the splash guard but I didn't want to close off the space with a framed glass door. I had my contractor/handy man install it but it didn't seem very difficult ( I think they took more time on the shower head ). I love my new bathroom but this is my favorite part, hands down.
Easy install, very sturdy. Amazing addition to my bathroom.

As soon as this shower door was installed, I knew I made the right decision - it fit perfectly in my small bathroom. I know there are other comments discussing leaks, but I've had this shower door installed for a few weeks now and have not had any leaks. I would definitely recommend this product 100%!!

If you are remodeling you will probably have more effort in removing the old shower door and cleaning off the old silicone than you will installing this door. Just make sure that you check for a level flat bottom surface to attach to as well as a plumb or near plumb shower wall. There is a limited amount of tolerance for out-of-plumb/square conditions given the size of the U-channels. Also, the glass must engage almost completely in the U-channels to have a safe, sturdy installation. I would give the instructions about a B-. What's there in the way of instructions is easy enough to follow but I think there were a few minor things missing. Those would be a) angle to form between the upper support and the shower wall, b) where to put the clear plastic pieces that seem to be meant for use with the support bar but aren't mentioned and c) how long to allow the silicone caulking to dry before using the door. Despite having to use judgment and experience on these items the rest of the instructions were clear. The end product looks SO much better than the old brass trimmed rain glass doors and works well. Have not seen any leaks around the clear plastic strips used on the edges of the glass.

I'd love to give these a 5 star rating, but they leak where the door meets the stationary piece. They come with rubber pieces to stop the water, but both myself & contractor have tried to get them in correct placement to not leak, with no success. They are much more affordable and easier to install than custom doors.

A method of trimming/notching the hinge side vinyl seal may be a solution for your installation. These seals may, indeed, be cut with a razor knife or a sharp pair of shop scissors. I like it so far. The only thing is that the instructions manual doesn’t show where exactly the robber seal goes. It says it goes on the edge of the glass but doesn’t show a full picture of the area of the glass should I place it.
It took me a long time to figure it out.
I destroyed it and now my shower glass door doesn’t have a water seal. thanks to the misinformation.
