It looks like this will require some hardware drilled to the shower pan but I'm not sure? Wondering if it matters that my shower pan is Cast Iron?
Asked by: mom
There's a guide block at the bottom that both glass panels run through. This would be located on the shower curb, not the pan itself. Pre-drill a hole, fill with silicone sealant as well as silicone on the bottom of the block. Screw in. A lot of shower doors require you to drill into the curb. You just need to take the standard waterproofing precautions.

How is the rod fastened through the wall to the studs?

Are the ends of the bar screwed through the wall into a stud? What kind of "reinforcement" can I use?

Multiple questions: Please help

The opening width of my shower space is 55.25" on the bottom and 55.5" on the top. Will your door have the required .25" adjustment to make up the difference? I see the minimum suggested width is 56". Does this mean that the opening to enter and exit the shower in my case would simply be approximately 1-inch less, which would be acceptable to me. Also, when looking into my shower stall, the showerhead is on the right wall, but it appears the sliding door is also on the right side, in front of my toilet. I understand that it is reversible and that I may put the fixed panel on the right side, with the sliding door on the left side. But since the water will be coming from the right side, will this post a potential leakage problem? If so, may I correct the problem by installing the fixed panel on the inside right wall where my showerhead is and the sliding door on the outside instead, opening from left to right?
Asked by: Sundance2000
Yes You can. I put my affixed panel next to my sink and the shower head in on the same side. Does not pose any issues. Actually nice that you reach in turn on the shower. Perfecto! The door has stoppers to adjust the opening. Unfortunately walls are very seldom plum. Don't worry you wont get water on the floor.

I did not install in -- I paid a handyman service to do it -- and they did a great job. Glass is very thick; very heavy. The stationary door acts as a base and anchor to the sliding door. My application was a retrofit to a double shower unit. We had a 30 year old frame unit that outlived it's useful live. This new door brings a fresh modern, quality feel to the entire bathroom. Not cheap, but the look isn't cheap either.

The Engima-X56 shower doors are a high quality brushed steel and 3/8" glass doors. All parts, top rail, handle, rollers and water stop strip are all quality made. The doors are coated so all you do is squeegee them off and dry with soft towel, if needed. Took about 4 hours to install, not bad for one person. Recommend two people (because of weight of glass). I definitely recommend these shower doors above any other make. Of course I have had these for about a week, but would not buy any other. The doors glide smooth as silk when opening & closing them. Definitely 5 stars!! Sorry picture doesn't do justice, but my bathroom is small.

I did the installation myself, along with the help of my wife and it was pretty straight forward. The install instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. All of the individual parts are boxed and labeled with numbers, and there is a parts list that relates each number to the exact wording used in the install instructions. I installed mine in a porcelain tiled shower, the hardest part was drilling through the tile and getting good anchors. Everything else on the install was not difficult, though the pieces are heavy and you need to be ready to carefully lift them into position.

But seriously, this is beautiful and well-made shower door. I’m a DIYer who started a master-bathroom shower conversion about a year ago. My wife and I are very budget-minded; we buy only when materials are on sale/clearance--and then only when we have the cash to do so. We chose the Enigma-X because it looked the most “custom” at the lowest price. We love the frameless look with the rollers on top. Still, this door was a bit of a splurge for us (it was the single biggest purchase of the entire project.) Being a DIYer on a budget, I installed it with my wife’s help. I’ve never hung a shower door before (never hung ANY door, actually.) However, if you’re mechanically-inclined like most DIYers are, this won’t be outside your abilities. No need to pay for professional installation. As others have stated, read through and understand the instructions first! I read it during lunch breaks while I was at work. As has already been pointed out; the glass panels are HEAVY!! It’s made of the same type of thick glass you see used as doors and glass walls in commercial buildings. Unless you have arms like Arnold, this is the aspect you’ll definitely need help with. Keep the corner protectors on. Once in an upright position I put the panels on my skateboard to move into position. I deviated from the instructions a little at one point (gasp!) They have you install the bar onto the stationary glass first then position the whole thing (glass panel and bar) into the doorway to level off and mark exactly where the bar needs to be attached to the walls. Someone needs to hold it steady while you do this. This was very awkward to move around in our small bathroom. Instead, I attached only one end of the bar to the panel so it hung down parallel to the door. Once the glass panel was in position on the shower curb, I could then swing the bar up to attach on the other end. Additionally, after the guide bar was attached to the walls, I used a plumb line to ascertain the position of the metal block that the door and stationary panel ride through on the curb. I found that the guide bar sits directly above the center point of that block. This helped greatly with making sure the glass was sitting perfectly upright. This will all make sense once you read the instructions. With the supplied hardware, there is about 1/8” to 1/4” of adjustments you can make in all directions to level and plumb the door. So you have to be fairly precise with your leveling, but not exact.

My only issue is that I had it installed for a roll-in shower and water rolls down the door and splashes outside the door. There is a small bar along the outside, but the water just splashes over it. It is not a lot and keeping a rug against the door contains it. I think a rubber sweep at the bottom of the door would help and I plan on having one installed. I had a contractor install it and it took 2 people to handle it as it is very heavy. I would not suggest a DYI unless you have 2 strong people to do the install.

We did a complete remodel of this shower and purchased everything from Home Depot! The door is a heavy glass and slides with ease on the beautiful brushed nickel hardware! I absolutely love it and it just added to the beauty of our new bathroom!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ordered these for a total remodel of the master bath.... Ordered these for a total remodel of the master bath. Really liked the design and look. Had installed a new double cast iron with porcelain enamel shower pan. To install the shower doors, the shower pan needed to be drilled (which would void the Kohler shower pan warranty), so we had to returned the shower doors. It was a hassle to pick up the heavy doors, move them upstairs, then move them downstairs (after unpacking and reading the directions about drilling), and then return them to Home Depot. Return was smooth at HD, however, it would have been helpful if the drilling requirement was revealed in the description along with the required "flooring threshold depth should be a minimum of 2 3/4 in" We ended up purchasing Kohler Levity shower doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Shower Door This door was a great purchase! Great quality, sleek look and great functionality! Highly recommend to have a professional install. The cost was $250 and it took 1.5 hrs but well worth it! The person who installed it as well as others who provided a quote mentioned it was great quality parts that were used and were surprised about the sale price. One even asked where we bought it as he wanted one for his home! It's brand new so we have non issues to report and hope it remains this way!
