Questions & Answers
does this work with regular drill bits? or do you need specific dremel drill bits? I would like to get this for my wife if I don't have to buy special bits

Answer This Question
Hello! Thank you for your question. The locking sleeve accepts only standard 1/4" hexagonal shank accessories with power groove. The one- inch bits should only be used with a bit holder. Please contact Dremel if you still have more questions. 1.800.437.3635 Monday- Friday 8AM to 5PM CST.

Good, but could be better
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love having all the options in one package. It is nice having the removable laser level handy when I need it. the design of the drill is pretty good. It's not too heavy and fits in your hand well. I just wish it had a pocket hook so you could hang it on your pocket while going up and down a ladder with other items. It does a good job of drilling and fastener install, but it isn't the fastest tool. I wish they would have made it a 2 speed. While the price is good for what you get, I think they could have included a carrying bag to keep everything in. If it had 2 speeds, a carrying bag, a pocket hook and an extra battery included, I think they could charge a little more and it would still be a good deal.

Well-Thought Out and Built 3-in-1 Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Dremel Blueprint 3-in-1 cordless drill driver (DD12V-S1) comes with a stud finder, laser level, battery, charger, USB-C cable, instruction manual, and a set of bits. The 3-in-1 tool stands upright stably when the battery is inserted, but it is equally at home laying on its side. The tool is well labeled on all the components and even has a QR code on the handle which redirects to the online Dremel Quick Start drill user video.
The drill/driver is fairly simple and easy to use, and the multi-language instruction manual has 34-pages of detailed usage, troubleshooting, and warranty information in English to answer many questions that someone might have. The handle is comfortable to hold, and the tool is well-balanced. The tool does only take 1/4" hex driver/drilling bits though, but it comes with nine of the most common driver bits in the standard smaller length. While I do personally prefer 2" long driver bits, the included bits worked fine in the tool and were long enough to be farther out than the front of the handle when held level. The three drill hex bits included are 1/16", 1/8" and 3/16" and this will cover a lot of drilling tasks; however, one will probably find themselves needing a wider range of hex drill bits for some projects. I did find it odd that the locking sleeve on the hex drive was a push inward to release rather than a pull-out sleeve, which is what I am normally used to. However, this shouldn't be an issue as long as I keep in mind while drilling or driving a bit not to have a wooden molding edge or something catch the locking sleeve and push at it.
The tool drills into normal walls easily. The drill speed maxes out at 800rpm which isn't the fastest out there, but the speed and torque get the job done for drilling into drywall and studs though. Refer to my construction/stud grade wood drill/driving picture which shows the three sizes of holes drilled with the included drill bits and two #2 square screws driven into the wood. The left screw was driven using the lowest clutch position #1, where the right screw was driven using the highest clutch position #21.
The detachable laser level is held in a slot at the bottom of the tool and just pushed in to store and slides out to use. The laser level is more of a line level as it sits on a wall or surface and shines a line out of one side after the laser button is pushed on. The laser level has two bubble levels, one horizontal and the other vertical, that are accurate and easy to read. Included with the kit are six small reusable putty tabs for use with the level when needed. The manual specifies to always use the included USB-A to USB-C cable and recommends charging the laser level with a 5V 1A power adapter, which is not included. I would recommend double checking one's power adapter because a lot of USB cell phone chargers provide much more power than that and may not be downward compatible. I was able to shine the laser level easily across a hallway wall being well over 10-feet. The level is pretty impressive considering how much it packs into just a 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 7/8" space.
For the stud finding sensor, it does not locate the center of a stud but rather the edges of the stud by indicating with a pointed arrow marking the spot on the wall. One sets the tool against a flat wall and there is a small pressure plate/pad which gets pressed against the wall. After waiting for it to calibrate which is indicated by a lighted double line that looks like a pause button, a double direction arrow then lights up. Then the tool needs to be carefully and slowly moved along the wall, making sure to keep it flat against the wall so the pressure pad stays engaged against the wall. The sensor lights are on both sides of the tool which makes it convenient whether one is left or right-handed for marking purposes and for moving the sensor either left or right along the wall. Since the maximum scanning depth of the sensor for either a metal or wood stud is 5/8", keeping it flat against the wall is very important to be able to sense when there is a stud behind one's wall surface. Note that the manual has a lengthy list on page 10 of surfaces the stud sensor will not work with, but it worked adequately for my drywall walls. But like many stud sensors, it comes down to a little trial and error and rechecking the results, along with a little common sense.
Note that the tool actually comes with the B815-01 12V Max 2A Lithium-ion battery pack rather than the B816-01, which is the 3A version. It is convenient that this drill uses the same Dremel 12V Max batteries as the Dremel rotary 8240, 8250, and 8260 tools, so having spare batteries to switch between multiple tools is always nice. It took about 1 hour to charge the 2A battery to full capacity on the included fast charger, which blinks green while charging and solid green when full. When the battery is inserted into the tool, there is a three-level blue battery indicator on the left side of the tool.
This 3-in-1 drill/driver tool is well-built and solid with the battery and laser level firmly held in place during handling. There is even one bit holder on each side of this versatile multi-talented 3-in-1 tool. It really excels at hanging and leveling picture frames as well as other items properly onto walls. A DIYer will find many uses for it around the home, making it a very good addition to one's toolkit.

Surprisingly good tool, with space for improvement
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The tool itself is a surprise. Because of the online images, I was expecting sort of a toy tool, with little power, or something good enough for just hand crafts. It happened to be a serious option for drilling wood and thin metal foil, installing screws and finding the right spot to work on the wall and ceiling made of drywall.
The variable speed is an additional benefit that all rotary tools are incorporating. In the case of this one is not the less and is a feature always convenient.
The driller/screwdriver/stud finder would be really useful for works in the drywall like installing shelves, hanging frames and ornaments and so on. I didn't have much confidence on the stud finder accuracy, but it did a pretty decent work, honestly it became a surprise as well.
The battery charged in about 30 minutes, when the instructions were indicating something close to the hour. Probably as it ages, it may go relentless. The good point here is that higher capacity batteries can be found, and they are compatible with other Bosch batteries... at least that's what I caught from the instructions.
My reserves are:
- The driller does not develop high speeds, so, still not a high power machine, so I don't think it is adequate for drilling concrete or thick pieces of metal, let's say a foil of steel may be a challenge for this tool. Letes keep it as very good for wood, drywall and soft metals. Still, I have to try it to the limit.
- The laser level is too small like to fully trust just the bubble level to achieve a good accuracy, but for reference and confirmation with another level. May be after more practice and once I get used to it. The fixing with the reusable clay is not my favorite, despite it may be a good option to not use something more permanent, but it does not allow to made small corrections, which could be useful. What about a magnetic plate, that can be mounted with the re-usable clay and still can be slightly adjusted?
- The activation button for the stud finder is too exposed to false operation which can lead to fast battery discharge, as it is stated in the manual, but it is as well too exposed to hit and erosion. Above that, I love to have a stud finder directly mounted on the tool and always on hand when working the walls and ceilings.
A plus: the bits supplied with the tool have outstanding quality. Better they are good, they have nonstandard length so they can be used with the stud finder and finding replacements may be tricky. I have plenty of standard size bits.
As a summary, in my opinion this is a really good tool for construction workers, woodwork, drywall and yes, handcrafters can be highly benefited from it. Like everything there is always room for improvement and this type of programs designed to listen the user are fantastic. Yes, I like the DD12V-S1 Blueprint 3-in-1 tool.

An all you need wall mounting multi-tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill combines the three most commonly used tools for mounting or attaching to sheetrock walls. The compact package includes a Drill/Driver with a built-in Stud Finder and Laser Level. I used the Dremel Blueprint to mount a wall cabinet that required locating studs and aligning in both vertical and horizontal directions. The stud finder accurately located the studs; however, it was a bit cumbersome maintaining adequate contact while sliding it along a textured wall. Also, to see the stud indicator you need to view from above or below the tool. If the stud finder loses adequate pressure or pivots while sliding it will restart the calibration cycle. I found that placing your hand lower on the drill handle, near the battery improves proper contact. The detachable laser level was accurate and easy to use to align vertical and horizontal mounting holes. The drill/driver had adequate speed to efficiently drill deep into the studs, and enough torque to set the 1/4" wood screws. However, I had to use the drill torque setting, as the highest, (21) screw setting began slipping once an inch or so into the stud. The battery life was adequate and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the battery and charger are compatible with my 8250 rotary tool and is also compatible with the 8240 and 8260.
To summarize, with the exception of a tape measure, the Dremel Blueprint alone provided all the tools needed to complete a wall mounting project. The drill/driver with lights has adequate power and torque control. The laser level is accurate and very useful. The stud finder works well, but I would prefer it to be detachable like the laser level.

The New Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill is a 12 volt Multi-Drill with multiple settings for drilling and screw driving in size from 1 to 21. These are selected by turning a rotary know at the front of the drill.
Upon pressing the trigger/start button, 2 LED lights shed light where the drill is pointed. Both speed and strength are very good for most if not all YID and homeowner tasks and quite possibly in the professional work setting as well. Plenty of torque and speed for both. Battery level indicator keeps you posted on when it is time to recharge with the included charger.
The ergonomic shape fits the hand well, either right or left. Weighing in at 2lb 3oz including battery and laser level module(with integrated bubble level), the Multi-Drill, is not too heavy for a tool of this caliber and function.
The integrated laser works flawlessly and is simple and user-friendly to use. Integrated colored lights guide you to a stud.
The laser module is fairly simple to calibrate and use with included instructions. It stores in the Multi-Drill when not in use.
Included with the Multi-drill are:
• 12 volt battery charger
• Laser module charging USB cable
• 3 size dill bits
• Assortment of driver bits
• Operating Manual for both Multi-drill and Battery charger
• Quick start guide
Overall, a quality made tool that incorporates many functions used in the home or at the job site.

Great DIY tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Review of the DD12V-S1 Blueprint 3-in-1 Drill (SS12V-S1)
The DD12V-S1 Blueprint 3-in-1 Drill is a fantastic tool for DIYers looking for versatility in a compact package. Combining a stud finder, laser level, and drill/driver into one device makes it incredibly convenient for home projects.
Pros:
Multi-functionality: Having a stud finder, leveler (laser & mini bubble), and drill/driver all in one tool reduces the need for multiple devices.
Compact Design: The drill is lightweight and easy to handle, making it great for small spaces and extended use without fatigue.
Decent Battery Life: While not the longest-lasting battery, it holds up well for most DIY tasks before needing a recharge.
Storage for Components: The unit itself has a well-thought-out design for holding essential parts, making it easier to keep things together.
Cons:
Long Charging Time: The battery takes longer to charge than expected, so planning ahead is necessary.
Limited Bit Storage: While the tool itself is compact, it lacks a dedicated and convenient storage option for drill bits, which would have made it even more practical.
Final Thoughts:
The DD12V-S1 Blueprint 3-in-1 Drill is a great investment for homeowners, hobbyists, and DIY enthusiasts. It’s not a heavy-duty tool for professional contractors, but for basic household projects, it’s versatile, user-friendly, and a great all-in-one solution.

Easy to use!
I’ve had this for over a month now and I use it all the time! It’s nice to have for every day things around the house and great for busy moms like me. I love that it’s all in one so I’m not searching for a separate stud finder every time I need to hang something!
