A:  i don’t think the screws will break through the tip of the anchor, the screw will spin the anchor and strip the drywall, making it crumble

A:  I didn't test it but mine went in all the way. Sounded like the anchor end broke off when the screw got to a certain point.

A:  Yes, I found the screws to be too long for my purposes. I used smaller screws for hanging pictures and wall hangings. If you use what was given with the anchor you can literally strip the anchor in the wall making it useless, of course it depends on your walls and what you are putting the anchor into.

A:  The package of anchors I bought also had 1 1/4in long screws, but anchors are 1in, makes no sense. Especially when you see in image a 1 1/4in anchor comes with a 1 1/4in screw. The solution was to use a metal #6-1in pan head phillips screw, works great.

A:  They are longer so when screwed in they flare the imbedded end to help secure them into the wall! You should drive the screw all the way in!

A:  The screw will drive thru the bottom of the anchor and work just fine. The anchor is designed to to do this.

Q:Can these be used to mount a mirror to a hollow core 6-panel door?

            Answer This Question

A:  I'm sure it would bite and hold but I wouldn't to put a real heavy mirror on a hollow door. Maybe just one of those thin, slim door mirrors which wouldn't require anchors that can support up to 40 lbs/each.

A:  Based on the product description you can use it in a hallow core door. You want to make sure that the mirror is anchored so that door movement won't cause the mirror to shift. I used it for a towel hook in a hallow core door over 6 months ago and it is still holding well.

A:  Without any knowledge about the type or weight of the mirror, I would think it’s most likely. The door and anchors can only hold so much. Though the details say no pre-drilling is required, I still would.

A:  I would think so, as long as there is plenty of room depthwise. I used them to mount a towel bar on a hollow core door, but it was a plain door, not 6 panel.

                screws too long for anchors
wish I had read the reviews before buying these! the screws are way too long for the anchors. The diagram on the packaging is totally false, showing a screw all the way into the anchor. this is impossible. Now I have to find shorter screws to make these work.

                  Great Anchor, Screw Too Short
The "Hollow Door & Drywall Anchor" works great as advertised. However, similar to other reviews, I found that the supplied 1 1/4" screw is too long for this 1in anchor. The solution is to use a #6 - 1in screw. Note in the image that their 1 1/4in Anchor also comes with 1 1/4in screw. So how does 1 1/4in screw work with 1in anchor? If you decide to buy this anchor, buy a small pack of #6 - 1in Metal Pan Head Phillips screws. I've attached several items this way and grab is solid.

                    Easy and effective
These anchors allowed our handman to install a robe hook on a hollow door without using a drill. Watch the anchor length carefully. These anchors are 1" long--just the right length for a 1-3/8" thick hollow door. A 1-1/4" long anchor (also made by this company) might have hit the other side of my door, but could have worked for a thicker door.

the screws are 1/4” longer than the anchors
the screws are 1/4” longer than the anchors, can anyone explain why? this means you can’t screw the screws all the way into the anchor, so if you want to mount something to the wall that is thinner than 1/4”, like standard metal shelving brackets, you’ll want to use different screws. attached is a picture of about how far the screws can screw in.

                      Never again
I probably tried to use these on the wrong material... BUT: out of four attempts, three of them broke off almost instantly at the tip. One of them broke off at the top after one more turn of the screwdriver... Again, probably my fault. But. These feel like they're made out of tin? The ones that broke finally went in, after some determined screwing. Maybe they work in drywall or quarter inch lauan. Try before you commit.

Watched video on YouTube that showed this brand of anchors. It looked easy. I replaced a towel rack in the bathroom. So easy! A couple of weeks later, it still seems strong.

ALWAYS pre-drill door or drywall! They worked great for attaching wire racks to my new laundry room door. The racks will potentially carry a lot of weight as I find more stuff to hang on them. BUT, the anchors cause the drywall and wood door composite to deform when you screw them in. Without pre-drilling the deformation is worse. I used a utility knife to trim some of it away, but the result is unattractive. That's ok if you hang something over the anchor.
