Includes easy snap on face plate.
The valve is designed with a universal rough-in for either 1/2" sweat or 1/2" IPT. The brass valve is pre-attached to the box with a plastic nut for replacement or a threaded installation. The plastic stud flanges are molded onto the box. The multi-depth face plate is removable and snaps back into place after the final wall material has been installed. The outlet accepts 1/4" O.D. refrigerator tubing.

Perfect - 99%. Needed to use die to shape bottom thread to 1/2” NPT emphasis on the “T” (tapered). Excellent to allow turning of valve to swing connection more to the side to relieve any tight turns in hose. Wish I had found this 35 years ago. I’m using a transition from 1/2”NPT to 1/4” copper supply line.

            Ok, box could be better.
Is ok. Will do it's job. Box is flimsy. Would be better if box was capable of being installed after valve was sweated in place.

This is a high quality product and a huge improvement over the plastic hose and saddle valve it replaces. It was easy to install.

Best ice maker box and easy installation. This box comes with 2 parts... the main box with the valve attached, and a rectangular cover that attaches after installation. This is designed for 1/2 in. copper pipe, but you can also use an adapter to connect to 1/4 in. flexible copper tubing. The threaded adapter, which is also available at Home Depot, attaches to the valve which has an outside thread. I used Teflon tape to insure no leaks. The main box attaches to the drywall with 4 tabs and each tab has 2 holes. After you cut out the rectangular hole in the drywall, you have to remove the valve to put the box behind the wall for mounting. Then re-attach the valve to the box, attach the water line to the adapter and you are ready to attach the box to the wall. I used 8-32 flat head screws and glued 8-32 nuts to the back side of the 4 tabs, so that all I had to do is position the box behind the wall and tighten the screws until the they were flush with the wall. The last step is to slide the cover onto the box and you are done. If you want to take the easy route, you can also attach the main box to the outside of the drywall, but then your box and cover will protrude beyond the wall surface about 1/2 in.
