Q:Is the end not shown threaded for this grounding rod?
by|Jul 5, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Threaded ground rods are not commonly used for commercial / residential use. Threaded rods are not sold in HD stores. However, nvent ERICO offers threaded rods as a special order. Min Qty would be 5. Freight costs to ship these rods would be a hinderance.

A:  Listed? Like UL listing? No idea, don't care, but it meets the requirements set forth by NEC for grounding electrodes.

      Answer This Question

A:  it has to do with the gauge of the wire or pole in your case. American wire gauges (AWG) are a standard set of sizes for wire conductors — the smaller the wire gauge, the larger the diameter in inches or millimeters, and vice versa.. Check your local code to make sure the is the right gauge,

Ive never had so much fun than driving a 1/2" copper clad rod 7+ feet into ground. It slmost drives itself. I will be buying these for everyone in my family as stocking stuffers.

Guess I'm just lucky, I was able to sink this rod the first 3 feet just by hand. The last 5ft took some doing. By the time I was finished, thepoint on the end was flattened.

Sturdy drove down into ground easy
                          by
Used this grounding rod to ground my outdoor tv antenna, using a 6 gauge copper wire. I was able to put this rod at a shallow angle just above the ground and drive it vertically 8 feet into the ground. We live in the hill country of south Texas and the bedrock layer is typically around 14 inches deep so driving a rod straight down 8 feet is not possible.
