Stair Parts 41 in. x 1.25 in. Primed Square-Top Wood Stair Baluster

A:  Hi frontporchissue, we don't sell "pre drilled rails" for exterior use. In fact, all of our stair products are made for interior use only. If you're using interior grade products for exterior use, you will get splitting and deterioration, and a very short life span for the products you use. <p><p>That said, they may sell pre-drilled handrails for outdoor use in the lumber department, made from pressure treated pine or similar outdoor product. Perhaps you're thinking of that rail? Perhaps these items (#206162178 or #204991889) are what you're looking for?

A:  I think it depends on the number of these that you were planning on using. I wouldn't do two but 4 in groups of two so that they make an L shape to support the end if the counter would probably be ok. I think it also depends on how much of the counter weight they will be supporting. Two feet sure thing and maybe then only two are needed. More than two feet and you will have to use more.

A:  Hi Rockstar, thanks for the question. These balusters are not designed to be used outside of staircase construction. When used and installed properly, they will act as supporting members for handrail systems. They are not designed to be load bearing and, since counter top construction methods and design can vary, I would not recommend them to be used for any other purpose than staircase construction. <p><p>If you have additional questions, post them here, and we’ll reply as quickly as we can. A:  Depends on the weight it will be supporting but I wouldn't suggest it, they aren't meant to be weight bearing

A:  No, but am sure, the salespeople at the store would not mind helping with this.

A:  Hi Jason, these 5205 balusters do not come pre-drilled on the bottom since they can be trimmed on the bottom to fit various lengths. You can however, drill your own to use with pins or dowels, whichever you prefer. If you have any questions or need more information, please let us know and we'll be glad to help you.

A:  Yes they are unprimed, ready to be stained primed or painted how ever you like, they seem pretty sturdy as well, not flimsy.

A:  currently we are not able to offer the other species of wood that is un-primed. But we do intend to offer this product in Hemlock, poplar, and Red Oak. we do not have a set time frame on when it will be uploaded into HomeDepot.com But we are working diligently to provide a select variety for these balusters. thank you for your patience.
