Product Overview

Eaton's dual purpose arc fault/ground fault (AF/GF) circuit interrupter for residential and light commercial applications. The AF/GF circuit interrupter was developed in response to the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) that now requires AFCI protection in kitchens and laundry areas as well as the historical requirement of ground fault protection. Eatons AF/GF circuit interrupter will offer both types of protection in one familiar package. The AF/GF circuit interrupter provides quick installation and a single location to easily access and identify tripped circuits. Eatons short-body AF/GF breaker can replace or fulfill all AFCI, GFCI or AF/GF requirements in an Eaton panel.
  • Compact size provides contractors with additional gutter space for a quick and easy installation
  • Improved diagnostic trip codes to provide ease of troubleshooting during maintenance
  • Lower power consumption which allows the breaker to run cooler
  • Enhanced algorithms to reduce unwanted nuisance tripping caused from legacy AFCI, sensitivity to VFD high frequency ground faults and brown outs

Is this breaker compatible in Siemens panels?

Answer

Hello Cameron, this breaker is not. Our Classified (CL) breakers are the only breakers that are compatible and UL approved for Siemens panels. Regards, Eaton

Hello, that breaker is not listed for approval in a GE panel. Our Classified (CL) breakers are what you would need. But we only offer arc fault and ground fault separate, and not a dual function breaker. Regards, Eaton

How is this different from the BRAFGF120CS?

Received this from Eaton Technical Resource Center: “ The part# BRAFGF120CS is still available but will be obsolete once we stock them out, there are very few left in stock there for they may not be available with distributors straight – away. Part# BRN120A1CS happen to be the same breaker functionally, and will have all the features present in the older breaker. With the transition to new plug on neutral load-centers, we have had some transition designs of the breaker to help them to be used in both kind of panels – Legacy and Plug on Neutral, and the older designs started becoming obsolete.”

Arrived two days earlier than promised and works great. Can replace a variety of specialty AF and GF breakers and offers full protection. I have a fairly new home but after a few years, noticed my AF and GF breakers became hyper-sensitive and therefore too “trippy”. Have been replacing them all as they go with this model (rather than waiting for repeated trips). Much more stable, and now I don’t worry about going on vacation and having my fridge shut off.

Easy to install, no nuisance tripping
I replaced an Eaton AFCI/GFCI breaker that has a self-test feature that caused many nuisance trips. This new breaker took about ten minutes to swap out with the defective one.

These are now a code requirement for living areas.
These breakers are definitely not cheap but given the cost of callbacks or worse yet, fire, They ARE WORTH IT! I saw reviews regarding nuisance tripping but have never experienced such from Eaton. If anything, someone has spliced a pile of neutral lines from different circuits which is an easy troubleshooting ticket. These circuits are a must for anyone who deals with drywall installers using screws that are too long, home owners who hammer in nails (also too long) without searching the walls using a non contact voltage tester. Kick plates can only do so much to protect wires. Poviding Arc as well as Ground fault protection is excellent practice.
