Product Overview

  • Fits type BR load centers
  • Durable construction for lasting performance
  • Comes with the branch feeder protection
Eaton's Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCIs) use advanced electronic technology to reduce fire hazards in electrical circuits, including connected cords. They meet the requirements of the UL Standard for Safety, UL 1699 for devices that reduce the effects of persistent arcing faults that may pose a risk of fire under certain conditions. Arcing creates high intensity heating at the point of the arc resulting in burning particles that may over time ignite surrounding material, such as wood framing or insulation. The BRCAF120 is a 20 Amp combination type breaker that includes all of the protection of the branch feeder, plus it directly detects persistent low current arcing faults down to 5 amps to efficiently protect against fire hazards in the cords connected to outlets.
  • FIRE-GUARD model AFCI recognizes the unique current and/or voltage signatures associated with arcing faults and efficiently interrupts the circuit to reduce fire hazards
  • Branch feeder mitigates parallel arcing faults, which produce the most energy of all arcing faults, in the complete circuit including connected cords for enhanced safety
  • Combination type includes all of the protection of the branch feeder, plus it directly detects persistent low current arcing faults down to 5 amps to efficiently protect against fire hazards in the cords connected to outlets
  • For use in type BR load centers
  • Amp: 20 Amp
  • Mounting: standard pigtail
  • Interrupt rating - 10 kAIC
  • Voltage rating is 120

When using an AFCI Combination BR Type Breaker, can I install similarly rated (20 Amp) GFCI receptacles in that circuit too?
Asked by: Paul598
Of course. GFCI are for wet areas. Arc fault for living areas.

Im looking to replace and old GFCI breaker with this one. It powers my outside outlets, is this ok to use?

Asked by: Shane
Yes, as long as your state and local codes are met for what type of electrical protection you are doing.

Is this also a gfci with afci?

Asked by: DB
You are obviously looking for a Dual Function (GFCI/AFCI) breaker. Combination Arc Fault means that the breaker protects against BOTH parallel and series arcing conditions. Earlier versions protected against parallel arcing only.

BR 20 Amp Single-Pole Combination Arc Fault Circuit Breaker is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I haven't had the best of luck with Eaton breakers.... I haven't had the best of luck with Eaton breakers. They are expensive and (I believe) not the best quality out there. Unfortunately I am not an expert so I am reluctant to use other breakers in my box than the ones originally installed. If I knew more I would opt to spend $10 more for better qualit
