The breaker indicates the circuit capacity. So you are choosing 30 or 50 based on the load. The surge protection for the two breakers is the same. If you are just getting the breaker for surge protection it is a bit of a waste of circuit space.

You should limit your search to GE beakers and not Eaton/Cutler-Hammer breakers. Rather than a public forum I think you might have better luck contacting Home Depot OR a local GE distributor.

Since Bryant BR is listed as acceptable in your panel this Eaton breaker will work, but I would recommend using a Murray. The Murray line is being phased out so if you cannot find a Murray surge breaker, look for a Siemens surge breaker..

will this breaker fit a double d breaker box

There is no such thing as a Double D manufacturer. I would recommend you go back and check the label inside your panel again and double check the manufacturer's name and post that information back again before your first drink. If all else fails, post a picture of the panel with the door open so we can see the breakers.

I have Eaton BR816L125R sub-panel being fed from one of main panels at house. Already have surge ...

Answers

Yes, that is correct as long as the neutral in the subpanel is isolated from ground in the subpanel and the 4th equipment grounding conductor in the subpanel feeder is terminated on a properly installed ground bar. Since you already have surge protection at each of the 200 amp main panels you really do not need it at this subpanel, but it will serve as additional protection.

Can this be used in a LC230PC load center?

Hello, this breaker can not fit in a Siemens panel. You will need to use our Classified (CL) breakers. Regards, Eaton

Compared with CHSPT2SURGE, which is the better choice?

Asked by twister9962 May 21, 2020

Answer

Hello Andrew, the better choice would be the CHSPT2SURGE. But if you are limited to spacing in your loadcenter then the surge breaker is the better route, as it gives you the home protection and the breaker can be used as fully functional breaker. If you have any further questions we recommend contacting our technical support team at 877-386-2273, Opt 2, Opt 3, Opt 1. Regards, Eaton

Does the UL certification allow this product to be used in panels not made by Eaton?

Answer

Hello, our BR breakers are UL listed to fit inside of the following panels: Bryant, Cutler Hammer- BR, Challenger, and Westinghouse. For information, we recommend calling into our technical support team at 877-386-2273, Opt 2, Opt 2. Regards, Eaton

Why is the BR30 more expensive than BR50? Why would I want a 30 amp or 50 amp?

Asked by tompass February 12, 2020

Answer

Most RV campgrounds will only have a 30a recepticle, meaning the 30a breaker will be used in higher demand than the 50a breaker. The 50a breaker can service a much higher load before faulting and thus is typically found on much larger sized RVs or larger electrical.

I would give it a 5 if it fit were it is recommended to be placed in panel for maximum protection which is the first 2 positions, so circuit 1and 3 or 2 and 4 but it doesnt. The neutral bar interferes with trying to snap the breaker in to those position. I even removed some of the screws on the neutral bar and tried again but still could not get I in. I placed it in the first two spaces just below the neutral bar. I might end up buying an external unit so that I can place it first in line as recommended. This will do for now.

I bought two of these, one after the other, to protect the entire house. Overall, you will never know these have done there job until they stop (that is when the green LED no longer illuminates as the surge components inside have separated). Installation is probably the most important factor. My two 30A circuits were at the top of the panel where the neutral/ground bar is located. This breaker is longer and impeded by terminal block, so I had some circuits to swap around. If your 30 amp circuit is located where your neutral/ground terminals are, plan to buy some wire and wire nuts to move the breaker around.
