      A:  Thank you for your interest in our products! The length measurement refers to the overall depth, not the inside depth. Because the bracket is made of 1/4" thick steel, the inside depth is 9-1/2". This is because the very back and very front of the bracket add up to 1/2" thick between the two sides.         These babies are installed into a metal beam. I can hang from them. The steel itself is 1/4” thick. Once the shelf was on I realized that there is an industrial vibe. ❤️❤️❤️

          Needed this size for my rustic wood kitchen shelf. Turns out, it isn't hammered black steel, it's painted black steel. The paint flakes off, it's flat in some areas and shiny in others, AND there are drips and runs in the paint. For this price, lag screws and anchors should come with the bracket, but they don't. So, it holds my shelf up, but this bracket is too expensive, poorly finished, AND AND it's a 12 inch bracket but it's more like 11.25 so it does not hold a 12 inch wide shelf.
