Can the 4" x 30" x 22" be mounted with the 30" in the horizontal position? I want to attach a roller sun shade (8 ' long) using 2-3 brackets and need clearance between the shade and the house.

While these real wood brackets are substantial, we would recommend erring on the side of caution regarding weight support and ensuring they are securely fastened into structural backing.
Is this piece structural? Will it support weight? I am looking for two wood brackets, just like this, to support the load of a small portico over our front door. The awning extends 30" from the house.
Thanks for reaching out! These brackets are solid wood. Proper installation would be key, in using them in a weight bearing situation. They are a non-kiln dried rustic wood, thus are susceptible to natural variations in the wood (splitting, cracking, sap).

These brackets are solid wood and under normal circumstances and assuming they are installed correctly, they are capable of supporting well over 100 lbs.
The bracket can support up to 150 lbs of weight.
