Drawing app 5-6 feet lake to grass level, how many sprinklers should i beable to use at one time.

Asked by Grassman May 18, 2019

Answers

1. Look at the specs and find the "head pressure" or how high the pump will lift. 5-6 feet high should be fine but does the piping from the lake also run uphill? Add that if it does. 2. Read the specs on each sprinkler and add them up to get a total gallon per hour (GPH). Look at pump specs to see if it supplies that much. Each install is different, do your homework and you will be fine.

what is the pressure that this pump puts out?

Replaced my thirty plus year old 1 1/2HP jet pump. This pump matched and sightly increased the pressure of my old pump. the hardest part was reconstructing the old steel pipe with PVC.

Bought this pump to replace a pump that failed due to well problems. Once all the problems were solved this pump seems to be sufficient. The pump draws from two shallow wells for a lawn sprinkler system. Zones are indexed with a mechanical valve that switches zones each time the pump stops then restarts. Pressure and volume are more than enough and the pump primes quickly for little delay between zones. A mount that supports the pump is recommended to keep any stress off the lines as well as keeping it from rusting. The supply lines are different than in the photo. The check valves are moved to each well head to insure that plenty of water is always available to keep the pump primed. The only feature that remains unanswered is: How long will it last? Let's hope a while as this pump was not cheap.

I have had HORRIBLE LUCK with the plastic version of this pump...so don't buy it. However, this pump worked great, is much quieter, and appears to have just as much ooomph as the 2HP model. Short story...BUY THIS PUMP (and stay far away from the plastic equivalent).

Hello,
This pump is certainly made to be used outdoors as it is designed for use with an irrigation system. We do recommend a possible small structure to help shield the pump, but this is not necessary. It is hard to determine exactly what you are referring to when you state "after discovering that it was intended for indoor use". Please contact our professional customer service team Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm EST -- 844-883-1872. Thanks.
Failed at power up

Purchased this pump yesterday from Home Depot to replace 8 year old sprinkler pump. Due to my advanced years I spent the better part of the day plumbing this unit into existing system. This is the second pump I have replace in the 17 years at this address. The easiest thing for me is the electrical as I have years of experience dealing with AC & DC systems. This was super easy, hook up ground, then white to white then black to black - done! Slide switch set correctly to 115 volts. Applied power - pump came on for about a second then stopped, No smoke - no smell, just stopped. A minute later applied power again - same thing. Called customer support and spoke to a lady who advise their may be air trapped in the feed line - huh? As far as I know there is no "air sensor" that would keep pump from operating - may be some training needed here, or I need to get out of the game.. If I find that the error is on my part I will return and amend my review.

Mike,
Was the pump primed (filling the volute with water) before the first start up? The pump will be self priming once the water is filled. Also, if there is air getting into the suction/intake line then this would more than likely not allow water to reach the volute and could over heat the motor rather quickly. These pumps are equipped with thermal protection which means the pump will shut off if it exceeds a certain temperature so that it doesn't damage its self. You seem to be aware of our customer service number, but please note that all our pump specialist are trained and very skilled in trouble shooting pump issues, etc. Do not hesitate to contact us again at 844-883-1872 for additional help/information. Thanks.

Thank you for the review. Happy to read that the install was "easy" for you. These units can be difficult to install. However, if you have knowledge of doing so it can be a "no brainer".
