This review is for the Everbilt 1/2 HP Waterfall Submersible Utility Pump. The price is a little high for the features on this type of pump. We won’t be doing the pond/waterfall install until this summer, but the illustration on the box indicates that this pump will drive both a small fountain and a waterfall. It does have the features that we need and the power to push the water for our installation. I am disappointed that the flow rate is not adjustable but we can install larger pipes to reduce the volume, if needed. For this price point, on this type of pump, I don’t think variable speed is too much to expect. Since we’re not installing immediately, we decided to test the pump in our pool and it works well and pushes a lot of water.

This Everbuilt brand ½ HP submersible waterfall/utility pump has some very good design features that set it apart from other pumps I have used. The pump motor requires no lubrication, and it is very quiet when running. The water flowing through the pump cools the sealed ½ HP motor easily. The motor is thermally protected, so it will shut down in case it did ever overheat. It will automatically re-start when it does cool down. In all the times I have used it so far, I have never had it shut down due to overheating. So, it seems highly unlikely you would see happen. However, it is good to know it has that design feature. The owner’s manual has a handy chart showing the gallons per hour of water pumping for a range of height, from no elevation to 20 feet, with a maximum pumping height of 26 feet. The top of the pump has a small handle for carrying and placement of the pump (see picture). The fitting on the top of the pump has two adapters for different sizes of pipe or hose, to include the most common ¾ inch size (see picture). The tag on the power cord does caution that the pump must have a minimum of 2 inches of water to keep suction after priming, so plan your use of this pump based upon that. I highly recommend this pump for most any use in the yard or in the house.

This EVERBILT 1/2 HP WATERFALL SUBMERSIBLE is ideal for ponds, very large fishtanks, waterfall features and so much more, including fountain and spray features. Easy assembly, with pipe fittings included, it can pump over 50 gallons of water a minute, and is ideal in many water based projects. With a low maintenance, oil free motor, high 26 foot head pressure (lift height) max it is so versatile.

We purchased this for our waterfall. I needed the sheet look and needed a high volume GPH. So we purchased this one on the recommendation form the associate at Home Depot. Took it home and plugged it in. That one lasted about a week. Back the store for another one. Had that one for about 2 weeks. Then it also quit working. I then called Everbilt, great customer service. I explained exactly what was going on, I told the associate about what it was being used for, anything and everything. So they send me a new one from the factory. That one lasted 2 months. Was sitting on the back porch watching the water fall and it quit working. After having 3 of these with no luck we went with another brand with a higher GPH rating but the water flow is very disappointing compared to this when it worked. Product has not lasted more than 2 months which is extremely disappointing for what it cost but the customer service when I called was out standing.

Good pump - but MUST READ SPECIFICATIONS FIRST
The key to this pump is you must read the limitations and instructions. There is a specific range it can be used in, otherwise it will shutdown to cool for a bit. I admit, it took a bit of time to figure the whole thing out but once I did it was fine. I used it under a sink to act as a sewage pump while I was remodeling my basement. It worked great but again, you have to understand its limitations. I put all kinds of stuff through it and it worked great the whole time. A regular garden hose fits right on top if you use the provided adapters.

Thanks for the excellent review, rating and feedback. To be clear, this is NOT designed to be a sewage pump! We are glad it worked out for you, but we do offer other pump models that are better for that application.
    Thanks,

    GREAT PUMP
I received the 4/10 HP Waterfall Utility Pump free for the purpose of testing and writing an unbiased review of the product This pumpdoes an excellent job supplying water to my pond waterfall. My 600 gallon fish pond has about 6 – 7 foot rise to the filter overflow that supplies water to a downward stream and ultimate waterfall into the pond. My existing pond pump does well for filtration, but not for a waterfall. After adding the 4/10 HP Waterfall Utility Pump with the existing pump, the waterfall was great. I attached a 25 foot garden hose to this pump to run water through the filter. I recommend this product for for a pond or anytime that you may need to extract water out of a basement, etc.

Everbuilt 4/10 HP Submersible Waterfall/Utility Pump
I previously had one of these pumps that I used as a utility pump and it lasted about 3 years. It would have lasted longer had I not run it dry and I discovered it still running the next morning. It still worked, after that episode, but it didn't pump water out quite as fast as it used to. Mind you, you cannot have the pump running without water running thru it, as it uses it to also cool the motor. I love Everbuilt pumps, as long as you heed the warnings and not let them run dry, they will work for years without any problem. They are quiet, and dependable, they work well for a pond, waterfall, as well as utility pump to sump water, like in a basement. It comes with a couple adapters, one is a hose adapter so you can connect a garden hose and run it to wherever you like the water drained.
