A: Yes, but zinc coating ought to delay the process for a long time. How long? It depends on exposure and wear so I can not say. So I guess: Iimited rust resistance.

A: Everbilt 1/4 in. x 3-3/4 in. L Zinc-Plated Lag Thread Screw Eye will rust with outdoor use. The zinc finish will provide some rust resistance, but stainless steel finish will provide the best rust resistance for outdoor use.

Q:Would four of these support a porch swing? They would be screwed into the swing frame itself.

A: I would not use these for a porch swing, 1/4” is too thin for holding a lot of weight, in my opinion. I would use an eyelid with at least a 1/2” diameter and shank 4” long

A: This lag screw can be used for this application, but would require strong enough chain to be used with it. We would recommend using Part# 803074, OMS ID 204765164, Porch Swing Chain kit, which is designed specifically for this purpose.

A: Load rating is 300 lbs (answered in other questions) so that might be right on the edge of what you'd want to use. Probably better to use at least a half inch screw eye.

Used these screw eyes for holding wire to stabilize my firewood stack. Predrilled 7/32" holes in fresh lumber and they hold great. Zinc plating should resist weather for many years.
