Lightweight cable tensioner. Both ends have round ‘eyes’. When this turnbuckle is tightened to its smallest size it is just over 5-1/4 inches long. It has a maximum length of just over 7-1/2 inches. The amount it can pull in is thus about 2 inches. If the tension is getting high, one can tighten the turnbuckle by inserting a screwdriver into its body and turning it more. Maximum working load is 90 lbs (40.9 kg). Made in China

The 1/4 in. x 7-3/4 in. Zinc-Plated Turnbuckle Eye was an easy fix to an irritating problem. I have a long shelf loaded with books and over time the weight of the books has created a noticeable sag. I have contemplated various ideas to remedy the issue but all but one required more effort than I wanted to commit. Using the turnbuckle I was able to run some cable inconspicuously behind the books and slowly tighten until the shelf was pulled level. The whole project only took about 20 minutes and the results were perfect. Now I'm coming up with more ideas of things I can do with a turnbuckle.

If you are looking for a turnbuckle, yes size does matter. Not only the diameter of the bolt/eye but the width when both eyes are turned completely out. Case in point this is a " 7-3/4 in " turnbuckle, yes when both eyes are turned fully out, safely about 7 1/4 inches. The main body is approx. 3 1/8 inches. It looks big in the picture. This was of a lighter weight than I felt comfortable using. I bumped up to a 3/8" by 10 1/2 " solid body. When you get to a substantial weight, that you are trying to control, overkill won't get you killed. Do the math, get a chart, safety first. Although the size was smaller than I needed , handling the product I felt it deserved at least a "Good " rating.

It's smaller than I expected. I thought the 7 3/4" measurement was for the body of the turnbuckle. But it's the overall length when both screws are all the way out. But that's no fault of the product. Just wanted to clarify that because the description really doesn't. This is also a turnbuckle for lightweight applications. Having said that, it's fine for what it is. I used it to tension a line that I hang items from in my shop. It works great for that and keeps the line nice and tight. If the line gets stretched I can just tighten it down a little more. I like the eyes on both ends better than the hook type. Seems more secure to me when attaching a line or something else to it.

Does its job. Creates tension on a metal cable I have strung up to present pictures. If you have ever needed to create tension on a cable after cinching it off, this is they tool you need to achieve tension. It goes in-line and should be wide open when you start. Then turn the turnbuckle to tighten it down. I placed it in the middle (probably not the best spot, but I wanted to hide it under a pictures). tied down everything and then turned the turnbuckle to further tension the line. The result was a straight wire even with pictures on the line. The turnbuckle is zinc plated so it should resist corrosion if you have it in a wet environment.
