PCP15001- VSP 15 months old, has been turned off 9/2023-8/2024. When I turned it on got E-14 code & control panel is flashing. E-14 says communication failure. How can I fix this?

        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

John - Thank you for reaching out to our Technical Support Team. If the pump is flashing E-14, it is a communication issue between the pump and the Circuit board (Screen). It is possible that the pump might have been struck and the computer disconnected from the pump. Or humidity got inside the circuit board and the damage prevents it from not communicating. If any of these things happened, the pump would have to be replaced. -GP Support

Hard Pass due to Lackluster performance and short lived motor. Spendy for a product that does not delivery anything much beyond noise and the consumption of electricity. Unfortunately this was not worth unboxing and connecting... Back to the drawing board for this item. Not anything close to the water flow of the 1HP pool motor and pump that this was to replace.

This pump has not been sold in the United States in over 2 years as Single Speed pumps are now banned in the United States. Excellent, high quality pool pump. Great circulation and performance No on/off switch, easily wired straight as per instructions. Perfect to replace old pump. We have been using it about three (3) weeks, no issues, running well. Seems to be handling the outdoor weather fine, though I think we will put a cover on it, to extend the life. We are very pleased with our pump. Works amazing. Easy to install.

The pump performs well, and it's reasonably quiet. But there's so much plastic on this thing that I don't think it's going to hold up. I mounted to a concrete base as specified in the instruction manual. I had to be careful not to overtighten the anchors...even the base is plastic! The metal encased motor seems to be ruggedly built, built, but that's as far as sturdiness goes. One cool feature is the 120/240 vac switch. Normally you would have to re-wire the control box for one or the other. But this pump has a convenient switch that comes in the 240vac position. If you intend to run the pump on 120vac, simply unscrew the cover and flip the switch...that's it...very simple and foolproof.

A very powerful, 1 horsepower pool pump that can pump up to 3900 gallons per hour. It can run on 115 volts or 230 volts which makes it adaptable to all pools. It has a standard filter basket on the input side and access is easy and tool less. Everbilt always includes detailed installation instructions and they should be read and followed. It takes 1 1/2 inch pipe and the bigger the pipe size the better, do not reduce the pipe size near the pump or place an elbow fitting near the pump. It comes with coupling fittings for the input and output all at 1 1/2 inches other fittings may be needed depending on the existing system. The best installation uses as much straight pipe as can be used and at the maximum diameter of 1 1/2 inches. Follow the instructions and this pump will deliver many years of use. Install it correctly and safely. The motor is housed in a high strength corrosion resistant material built to last a long time. For its size it is fairly quiet and vibration free.

Seems like a decent product the main housing the pump housing part is plastic but it seems like high impact durable ABS plastic not sure if it's reinforced or not I couldn't tell I didn't see any markings on it The motors seem to all built it's heavy it's definitely heavy at the motor end than it is over at the pump end but when water gets filled into the pump and I'm sure it balances out it's even weight distribution it's got a nice built-in filter bucket with some of the attachments to attach it to your pool system it's dual voltage which is nice for some people who've only been wired for 110 and some people would prefer the efficiency and the strength of the 220

This pump is very well made and easy to install. The top section is clear see-through glass, so that you can view the water passing through the pump itself. The instructions are clear and it's easy enough for a handy person to install on their own, we didn't have a professional installer. The specs are all clearly marked on the box phot and the packaging is very secure, no damage in shipping!!

A good pool pump comes with a conduit connection containing all wiring including a ground wire for power, a filter basket that won't quickly clog the input pipe thus overheating the motor, excellent online support and access to replacement parts. This pool pump has appears to have none of these things. To actually install this 1 HP pool pump (do not confuse this pump with the same company's 1.5 HP pump which has many of these features) you need to jerry-rig an electrical conduit connection and that is ridiculous. This pump comes with 2 wire "pigtails" coming out of the pump. No ground wire for the power connection - a ground wire is critical for the power connection The ground-bonding wire lug on the outside of the pump that grounds the entire motor is clearly marked and clearly identified in the manual. Note that these are 2 entirely different "ground" wires and that the power grounding wire is not identified on the pump nor referred to in the manual. Another reviewer on this site believes he has identified a possible grounding screw in the terminal box that could be used and I believe he is correct. The screw is not marked in any way as it should be and is not referred to in the manual in any way. The filter basket is very flimsy and it is easy to see that it would get distorted from the suction and block the input stream thus leading to overheating and possibly burning out the motor as mentioned by another reviewer. Absolutely no replacement parts are mentioned as available from the manufacturer for this pump in the manual. It is very probable that one would need replacement "O" rings or gaskets or a new filter basket over time. Technical support from the company. Bear in mind that the company is not a 3rd party that only sells these pumps in this country. They design and build them according to Matthew (real name?) who answers the phone. They are not built in this country but this is the manufacturer. The tech support - like how do I hook up the power without a ground wire and conduit connection? Matthew's answer - "have you read the manual". Where is a place I can connect a ground wire?, "If you do not understand how to do this, hire an electrician" Where can I get directions to help me actually connect the power for this pump since there is nothing in the manual. Is there anyone else available at your company I can talk to?, "No" Are you the only one who answers the phones?. "yes". So, I did manage to add an electrical conduit connection by using a soldering iron to carefully open a hole in the side of the terminal box and use a 3/4 inch conduit connecter from HD. I pulled the 2 pigtail wires back in to the terminal box and added a ground wire to the bundle to the screw on the floor of the terminal box that the other reviewer found and ran the 3 wires out the conduit connecter into my electrical conduit. Now the motor is ready to be connected to power. After seeing the reviews about problems with the flimsy filter basket and that no replacement parts seem to be available and the further problem with the pump not always self priming when it starts up (our current pump runs 6 hours in the morning) thus burning out the motor, I decided this pool pump was a very bad choice. HD really needs to review their decision to carry this pump. Note that the majority of the reviewers for this 1 HP model did not actually install it before they reviewed it. Some of the reviews listed under the 1 HP are actually for the 1.5 HP and it is easy to see that in the pics.

Wow, this pump is very good for our spa, it’s 1 hp and just the right size this is a pump for a permanent structure, we wanted a whirlpool spa but not a big pool so the pump is perfect we run salt, not chlorine so the pump will last longer. We run the 220 V, the powers there from the last pump, so was the piping, so I was able to do it myself. We did a sprinkler pump last summer, so this is just as easy. It’s easy to clean out the pump, because the cover comes off.

Everbilt 1 HP 230-Volt/115-Volt Pool Pump. After our pool gets opened, I will install it, easy peasy. This feels like a great pool pump with great specs for the price. I couldn't find a service rating. A couple of areas for improvement: #1 A bigger pump body area for a larger robust filter basket so you wouldn’t have to empty it as often and keep the flow rate up. One of the pics shows the pump I will be replacing that has a bigger basket, that this new one fit’s into.#2 The ability to connect and screw the hard wire conduit to the wiring box on the motor so the wire connection is in the box, so you don’t need to add a junction box. Make it like 1.5hp version. It is going to be easy to replace the water bearing/seal by looking at the instructions, they all go bad eventually. The fittings that connect to your inlet and outlet water lines are heavy with a large O ring that should make it easy to unhook it for service, but it's not the standard connection that most pumps have.. I like the fan on the back of the motor to help keep it cool. I hope the pump lasts, it seems great.
