Q:Is this NPT (per the description) or MIP (per the title)? Those are very different things. NPT is tapered; MIP is straight.

    Answer This Question

A:  This Everbilt 1/8 in. MIP Brass Valve Fitting has 1/8”-27 NPT threads. When cutting tapered threads take care to not over tap the hole as you will lose the taper needed to create a seal with NPT fittings. The tap manufacture should have guidance on how to create the appropriately sized tapered holes with their taps.

        Would NOT take air
In spite of the similar bad reviews I opted to try this as I needed an emergency air bottle ASAP for a special flight mission to AK. I tried installing two of these on an air bottle. Neither would take air from a standard air chuck. I tried three different working air chucks with the same no fill results. Please do not waste your time and $ on this junk.

If you purchase this, be prepared to do some modification in order to make work. The diameter of the fitting is too small and will be blocked when you attempted to run air through it. You will need to remove the schrader valve and then run a drill bit through the back of the fitting, that is slightly larger than the original hole.

          This is garbage
Will not pass air. I should have read the reviews before purchasing. Someone here said replacing the core won't fix it. Hours wasted. I'll just waste another hour trying to return it and get my $7 back. Not happy.

I have tried two of them. One never took air very well then wouldn't take air anymore at all after about a month. The 2nd one was dead right out of the package. It was more useful as a cap than something to put air or fluid through. Save your money.

The air chuck sold by Home Depot is too big to compress the needle in this 1/8” valve. The center point in the chuck head is too big to push down on the needle in this air valve.

              Defective
Does not allow air to pass through it. I tried changing the center piece and still nothing. Bought two, both defective. Returned to the depot. Waste of time, Napa had some and they worked perfectly.

1/8 NPT threads were just fine. Schrader valve would not take air even with a different core. Defective and returned
