    Answer This Question

Thank you for your inquiry on the 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting. For use in potable water service, it is not recommended to attach this fitting directly to galvanized pipe. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

You should use a dielectric union when connecting fittings or pipes made of dissimilar materials in any plumbing system. In your case, use a 3/4" Galvanized Steel FIP x Sweat Dielectric Union. You can see a picture of this item on the Home Depot website.

I made a mistake on an answer a few minutes ago. It looks like you are using1/2" fittings so use a 1/2" dielectric union. The pictures on HD website will give you an idea. Bring one of your fittings to the store to make sure you buy the right size union.

Photo shows tube being sweated to fitting with tube inserted into fitting. Dim's of 1/2" Cu tubing (actually 1/2" pipe) are same as fitting (5/8" OD) therefore tube would not fit as shown, requiring a union. Which is correct, photo or dim's?

          Answer This Question

Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting. The drawing is only indicating the nominal size and end connection type rather than the actual measurement. The 1/2 in. nominal side will accept both 1/2 in. nominal copper tubing or 5/8 in. OD copper tubing as they are the same copper tubing. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

This question is about the 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting, C603HD12. Is the female part TAPERED or STRAIGHT? (I want to install it on a straight thread IPS faucet stem.) If straight, how seal? Wicking?

            Answer This Question

Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting. These are tapered NPT pipe threads and will not work with straight threads. We do not have a solder adaptor with straight threading. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

Can this be used on brass Delta Multichoice valve w/ IPS male threads to connect a sharkbite push-fit connector? Can I use pipe dope & teflon tape w/o having to sweat the copper?

                  Answer This Question

The threaded side should have Teflon tape or thread goop. The other side needs to be sweated. I can't answer the other part of your question.

Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting. Since you have the female solder cup x female thread, the answer would be no. The female threads are NPT so they will thread onto a Male IPS thread but the solder cup is to go over copper tubing and not into a Sharkbite fitting. You would want a 603-2 that is fitting/male copper pipe size x FNPT in order to have a size that will be copper tube size to fit into a Sharkbite fitting. You would have to verify with Sharkbite that the fitting end was long enough to make full insertion. For the threaded joint, we only recommend using PTFE/Teflon tape and to never use both pipe dope and tape on the same joint. If you have additional questions, you can reach a NIBCO Technical Services Advisor, M-F 8am - 5pm EST, by phone at (888) 446-4226.

If an adapter connection type is "CUP" is it safe to conclude that since a CUP 'accepts pipe' that it is female? In other words only a male fitting will be compatible with the CUP connections, including pipe.

Thank you for your inquiry on the Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Pressure Cup x FIP Female Adapter Fitting. Yes, the Cup/C end would be a female solder cup that will accept either 1/2 in. nominal copper tubing or a 1/2 in. nominal male spigot end fitting. 1/2 in. Copper C x FPT Adapter This heavy duty adapter was used to replace an older worn adapter. It fit perfectly, and was easy to install. Nothing beats copper as a plumbing metal, and so many things are being redone in plastic. Copper has been a proven plumbing metal for many years. With the cost of copper so high now, I was pleasantly surprised at how very reasonably priced this all copper fitting is!

This is Exactly What I needed to install a new hose bibb
After I noticed my old hose bibb leaking, went to Home Depot in Queen Creek, AZ, spoke to a girl in the plumbing dept, she told me that I needed this adapter to install a new hose bibb, wow she knew more than me...So, I purchased it and installed it. It worked out great! I don't know how the previous builder installed the old one, but it wasn't correct. Now I can be worry free of leakage. I would recommend this adapter for easy installation.
