The picture is of the correct fitting, type MIP x Comp. We will update the website with a picture that shows the Comp vs MIP ratio more clearly. Thank you for your feedback.
The compression side is designed to work with softer metal (copper) and vinyl piping, both of which are not appropriate for use in Natural gas applications. We would recommend consulting a licensed plumber who knows local code to identify the proper method for completing the connection.
MIP means Male Iron Pipe Threaded.
The insert is only for non-rigid tubing such as vinyl. If the pipe thread is the SS that is fine, but if it is 1/4” SS tubing it will most likely leak, as the brass ferrule will deform before the SS tubing.
For this fitting: 1/4” comp and 1/8” MIP
The 1/4” Compression fitting will fit 1/4” OD plastic or copper tubing. Compression insert is recommended for nonmetallic tubing. Be sure to not overtighten connection to prevent leaks.
This compression adapter can be used with plastic tube if the adapter connection can be fit to each other.
Yes, no one sells brass fittings in the USA with lead in them anymore
Rated for 400psi
1/2 Tubing fittings are I.D. Pipe is different
