They got the job done
I used these to secure some timbers that made up our front stairs, I did snap off one of the bolt heads, but the others were fine.
I was cranking on the bolt pretty hard with an extension so it was expected.

Avoid like the corona virus unless you enjoy having projects ruined
About half of the bolts i purchased snapped even with pilot holes. I went back to higher quality bolts i purchased online elsewhere.

they're freakin' lag bolts/screws. They work very well even for a simple minded person like me it is hard to screw up a lag 1/2 inch lag screw. They were used to secure railroad ties as curbs on this bridge which handles farm equipment and automobiles. The heads of the screws/bolts are visible in the retaining brackets if the picture is enlarged and focused on the brackets.
